5 Ways to Use Quotes in Everyday Life

Quotes have a way of grabbing our attention. A truly great quote can articulate with one sentence what would otherwise take a chapter to explain. There are so many memorable, funny, inspiring, and motivational quotes available today that it only makes sense to use quotes in everyday life as often as we can.

Here are 5 ideas to inspire you to incorporate more quotes into your day to day life.

1. Add a quote to a greeting card or thank you note. Pick a quote that really fits the person you're sending the card to. Though cards often contain quotes already, a handwritten quote that has been well thought out adds a very special touch to a card and says what you want to say with perfection. For example, if a friend supports you and encourages you to one of your highest achievements, find a blank thank you card or make a card with a picture of the two of you on the front and write the following quote inside.

"There comes that mysterious meeting in life when someone acknowledges who we are and what we can be, igniting the circuits of our highest potential." ~ Rusty Berkus

That says it all, doesn't it?

2. Use your favorite quote online in your signature or on your MySpace, Facebook, blog, and more. Find a quote that defines you and lets others know who you are before they even get a chance to say their first hello.

If friendship is important to you try, "A friend is a present you give yourself." ~ Robert Louis Stevenson

If achievement is your passion try, "Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly." ~ Robert Francis Kennedy

There is such a wealth of quotes available that you will surely find one that fits you. If not, write your own. The world is always ready for another great quote.

3. Frame quotes and hang them where they will most inspire you. If eating right is a challenge for you, post a healthy eating quote on your fridge. Organizationally challenged? Hang a organizational quote where you drop your mail and other paper items.

I personally think an inspirational quote in the bathroom is a great way to get your day off to a good start. A reminder about the power of a smile right next to your bathroom mirror should inspire you to at least try on a smile.

What better way to test your first smile of the day, than on yourself?

4. Purchase a "To Do" calendar that has daily or weekly quotes on it that fit your needs. Need to be motivated to exercise? An exercise quote calendar might be best for you. Need a little more laughter in your life? Try investing in a calendar with funny quotes like, "If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not the right activity for you." ~ Author Unknown You'll be guaranteed one laugh a day.

Most households need some kind of calendar to keep track. Make it a dual purpose calendar that both organizes and inspires you.

5. Enhance a craft or a gift by adding a motivational quote. One of my favorite wedding gifts was a cross-stitch with the following quote.

"A wedding is an event, but marriage is an achievement." ~ Author Unknown

A silver watch may be the perfect gift for someone you love, but add a quote like, "Time stands still when I'm with you" and the gift becomes even more precious.

There are a lot of fun ways to add quotes to everyday life. Look around you and see where you can add them to yours. You'll be inspired and enriched by their visible presence in your life.
