Resume and Interview Tips

Convincing Resume Writing Job Boards
By:Amy Savage

Some candidates avoid posting resumes on job boards because they worry that their resumes will get lost in a deluge of other resumes. While it is true that employers may receive hundreds of resumes for a single position on a job board, employers often see the volume of resumes as a plus. After all, employers post the job openings to attract strong groups of candidates!

If you have used job boards without success, your resume writing may be to blame. If your resume writing includes any mistakes, you are at risk. According to a recent survey, 85% of hiring professionals will reject your resume if it includes even one or two mistakes. Think about the person taking the first look at the resumes - you can imagine that he or she does not want to look bad by recommending a candidate who does not pay attention to detail.

Whether it is an assistant or senior hiring professional reading your resume, a lengthy resume likely will not be a plus, with rare exceptions. Think of it this way - if employers asked you in interviews why they should hire you, how long would your answer take? If it takes you several minutes to answer that question, that is a problem because odds are that if you had a concise rsum you would be able to provide a concise response in interviews. Employers only take 10-15 seconds for an initial resume screen, and as such your resume writing needs to make it clear from the start why you are the best match for the opening.

Your resume writing also needs to include keywords. If you have no idea of what keywords you should use, research the keywords or contact a Certified Professional Resume Writer for advice. This area of resume writing is key. Many employers will take resumes from a job board and keep the resumes in an internal search system for future opportunities. This same practice is very common with recruiters and other employment services companies. If you have the right keywords in your resume, then your resume can keep working for you long after you have submitted it to a job board.

If you want to have success posting your resume on job boards, then you should consult with a Certified Professional Resume Writer. Contact one of the best Certified Professional Resume Writers in the business, Amy Savage, CPRW at www.ConvincingResumes.com.
