Creating a Professional Resume: How to Not Get Stuck Along With the Jobless
By:Suzette Dean

A professional resume is a document that showcases your talent and skills to the corporate or working community. This will pave your way to getting your skills and expertise noticed. With that, it could be the best tool to help you get your desired job. Sadly, some job applicants take this very important document for granted. This is why some of them end up getting stuck with the hundreds or thousands of other jobless aspirants.

There are lots of pointers that you should always bear in mind so as to ensure your professional resume is not ignored, and to make an excellent impression even just by paper. Sometimes job applicants tend to commit mistakes by including some unnecessary details on their professional resume. Presently most employers are very result oriented and meticulous about how your skills or expertise can help improve their products or services. Make your paper into a professional resume as best as you can.

A professional resume should have the following basic information which is most likely needed by employers: The Applicant's Name, Address (including the City, State, Province, Zip Code, Post Code & Country), Phone Number and E-mail Address (which you should have in order for them to reach you easily). Do not forget to put in your career objectives. Remember to keep this concise and directly to the point. Also present your work experiences, strengths in the work place and other special skills that you have. Other items that must be included are your educational background (graduate, post-graduate and high school only - never mention anything about your primary years in school as this is not needed), your employment history (start with the most current one with a brief title description), your skills section (where you list all of your expertise and other proficiencies/eligibilities), professional or group affiliations and seminars attended or certificates earned.

A professional resume may vary depending on the type of employer or job opening that you are intending on applying for. It is essential that you should research the company that you are applying to and the required qualifications of the position that they are offering. Some data can be removed or omitted depending on the company's nature of business or industry.

Before handing out your professional resume, always check and proofread the document. Always make sure that everything is organized well and that there are no typos or grammar problems. Make sure that initially, when the hiring manager or employer reads your professional resume, it already contains all the necessary information to persuade them that you are a quality applicant.
