Resume and Interview Tips

Award Winning Resume Templates
By:Brian G Chadra

Resume writing seems to be a dying art. Whether students aren't getting enough English early on or just aren't interested in putting pen to paper, writing on most levels has experience a dramatic drop off. Since the advent of the internet, most articles are available online so there isn't the need to pick up a magazine or read a book let alone actually write one. However, resumes are still in vogue, whether they are paper or electronic versions. So they are important to the job seeker who attempts to put his/her best foot forward.

How about some template sections that you can use for your page? A job template attempts to summarize the past experience of the worker answering "who he is, what are his qualifications and what what is he seeking." This summary statement tells the employer that he is a serious candidate for the position by listing in objective format why he is the best person for this job.

Let's look at some examples. "Experienced teacher seeking science position in good school district where I can help as many students as possible." What exactly is being said here? Did the person communicate anything outside of looking for a teaching job? Let's try to write a proper template here. "Experienced teacher with 20 years of mentoring high school science students seeks science chair position where I can help to leader younger staff members, coordinate science fair activities and boost MEAP scores."

Which person would you hire? You see, by stating qualifications in measurable terms and declaring goals, the selling process has already begun. The resume is your most powerful sales weapon. It is your biggest booster page so treat it like that. Nobody else cares as much about your well being than you do, so figure out what you do best and put it in your template section. This will help your profile immensely and will do wonders for getting that phone to ring. Now go get to it. Good luck!

Until next time,
