Resume and Interview Tips

One Step From Success to Failure - The Resume
By:Brad Grayson

A recent study reveals that from about 2000 resumes received through email and fax for 4 jobs in different cities, only 160 passed the first selection. Why does this happen?

The big majority of resumes are rejected because the code of the job was not specified (do you think there is someone paid to guess what you are applying for?).

There have been hundreds of books written treating the resume creation process but few on the recruiting correspondence.

Suggestions on this topic come from common sense but ignoring them can have catastrophic consequences.

- No matter how impressive a person activity may be no one reads a 16 pages resume. Also make sure your resume is smaller than 2.5 Mb (if you send it by email).

- In case of press classifieds which contain more jobs and locations for the same company, be aware of the code for each job and be sure you wrote it in email subject or on the first page on fax.

- Name the document in a relevant way. Names like good-resume.doc or sweetie.doc don't help improve your personal image.

- On multi job ads try not to apply for all the jobs even if you think you are fit for all of them. Concentrate only on one job.

These are some suggestions on a subject that can secure success or take you out. The rest stands in your ability to show empathy - try to think like your employer and send the resume you would like to receive.
