Resume and Interview Tips

Question Asked At A Job Interview
By:Lawrence Stoltz

During a job interview, it seems that a ton of questions fly all around and they generally do not mean a thing to you. However, the answers may be more important than you first think. One of my most memorable jobs also had a very memorable job interview. I had applied to be a teacher at a local preschool, and now sat across a desk, being interviewed by my future boss the director of the school. If I needed to send you into a room by yourself for a few minutes, and you were not familiar with the classroom or the children, what would your first reaction be? I laughed and answered, Probably try to appease them and keep them busy by playing the Hokey Pokey, or just dancing around to get the kids to smile and join in. For some reason, when a teacher acts goofy, it gets the kids a bit less shy and stand-offish, and they tend to dance immediately.

Amazingly, the answer I had given to that question was what had landed me the job. My strength in order to land that job happened to be the insane, shameless way I could embarrass myself in front of a bunch of children! Who knew? There are more questions thrown at you that tend to trip up even the most prepared of prospective employees, but just practice what you would say to the questions others have shared with you, and go off of that. On the other hand, better yet, track down helpful information and teach yourself how to stay calm and nonplussed under stress.

Another crazy question that I got from a job interview, happened to be a double-edged sword. No matter how I answered this question, it was going to look one way or the other either I would look like an idiot, or a brown-nose. This question can make or break an interview. It is, Why do you want to work here? Now, the idiot answer is always the truth I want the amount of money you are offering for the position, and I want to spend it on the things I love to do! Okay, so it may be true, but here comes the sword! The other answer could be, Well, this is the type of position I feel like I can excel at, if given the opportunity.

So, as you can see, you may want to look into the proper ways to answer questions, because whether you like it or not the answer can make you or break you. Alternatively, would that mean you are just broke? You get my meaning!
