The Owl:many thanks for your input re the pronunciation of the word 'dishonesty' in the previous post in this thread. Now I wonder what Turnoi will unearth on the pronunciation of 'dishonesty'.I can hardly wait! Thanks to Turnoi too for his previous contribution.
As for the Loch Ness monster,it would surely stick to standard English pronunciation despite being Scottish. That's because many linguists agree that Scottish pronunciation, mistakenly regarded as a kind of English dialect by many Chinese,is the purest pronunciation ever as it's nearest to dictionary pronunciation according to the phonetics therein.
Some ten years ago,I read an article about this.It said that many German learners of English who wish to perfect their pronunciation of English choose to study in Scotland rather than England because of the exemplary pronunciation in the former country.
It might not surprise you to know that I'm a Scot.Is Ian a Scot too?Be careful Turnoi, some of the Irish have surnames starting with Mac or Mc.But he's probably a Scot judging what his personality is likely to be like according to what he has previously posted, and the high standard of English therein.
Now here's one for all of you out there:was the founder of McDonald's,the famous fast-food chain restaurant company that I presume originated in the States a Scot?If so that'd be another feather in Scotland's cap.The answer +ve or -ve,it doesn't alter the undeniable fact that Glasgow's miles better = Glasgow smiles better.
Scotland forever!
