In response to Yangshuo (Teacher)

Teacher, you seem to be a total newbie to China, am I right?

Since when do PSB offices issue work visas? That used to occur in the distant past but hasn't been the case over the past couple of years. And good riddance to the bad old work visas issued by the PSB for some baksheesh from some influence-peddling business that allowed backpackers to bribe him in the first place, then let them spread out on the local job markets...

You have to apply for a work visa ABROAD, and a work visa now is valid only for 30 days, during which time your employer must obtain your Resident's Permit which takes care of your one-year visa.

As for YANGSHUO, I happen to know that place quite well. Local employers can get an 'F' visa for you from the GUILIN P.S.B. The Yangshuo Public Security is in charge of visa extensions for visitors, not for teachers. Yangshuo is a county under the Guilin jurisdiction. And no, special privileges are not granted to employers. Foreign teachers are tolerated on 'F' visas because 'F' visas can double as work visas for foreign temporary 'teachers' doing a stin as 'purveyors of cultuyre' for up to 6 months.
