Another reason why nobody should work for them - racism, and training centres are always like
that!

Funny, I'm West Indian and the only place a few years ago that would consider me for a teaching position in China were the likes of training centers. Many of the training centers I have worked in, briefly, are crap and unlike yourself I will go on to give some specific reasons why.

They hire people who speak English as a 2nd language and teach very bad grammar.

They are, as has been mentioned elsewhere in some of the threads I have read, very unprofessional from the management down. Lack of materials and a specific curriculum, most books procured from various sources. Never put much money back into the schools so the places look tatty and run down. Do not really take any interest in how people teach so long as the students are not complaining or demanding their money back. Often do not have the authority to hire teachers and/or for all their additional centers so employ people on the wrong visa or get a visa which is unsuitable for the city the teacher is working in. Often pay late and do not fulfil the contractual agreements and in some cases the contracts have not been stamped with an official company chop mainly because they do not have one.

I think to use the term racism is not really accurate. China has, and always has had, a very stereotypical opinion of what an English teacher should look like. In other words a white guy. AB BB and CB Chinese with great skills in the English language find it just as difficult to find employment as an English teacher in many places here because a Chinese person is NOT what people expect to see, you can hardly accuse them of being racist in that regard.

Wall Street in Shanghai or any other place, rubbish, and that is the end of the story!

Ok folks, that is the end of the story. No specifics, no details. You don't need those. THis guy knows all and simply telling you "rubbish" or "crap" should be enough for you to make an informed decision.

Silverboy, which end does the talking because you really talk crap. Sounds like a bad parent telling their child "Because it is" after asking why.
