Unfortunately, the good parts of a traditional confucian society such as providing charity for those less fortunate, protecting the natural beauty/sanctity of the environment, being honorable towards your family name by respecting the spirits of your ancestors and knowing who they were, as well as honoring friendship are slowly but surely being marginalized. All of the bad things from traditional society (social oppression, anti-intellectualism by the less educated, elitism and discrimination from the better educated, and excessive ignorance on all levels including excessive judgementalism on things not known) have been kept under different veils of saving face, social progression, even culture. The idea of communism has been nothing more than to increase the corrupt cultural aspects of the traditional society while making an excuse to behave ruthlessly as well as promoting styles of living that overemphasize avarice and lust. The end of the idea of promoting the growth of the perfect example of what a "real chinese" is like as encouraged by the vast spoken majority of chinese is nothing but that of a shallow, jaded, pitiful character who feigns collectivism in others but promoting the utmost selfishness in the individual within his/her soul. It seems as if people who are willing to go against this en masse haven't been born yet.
