2 of us just finished our contract at Wuhan Meten, I was going to post my review, but than I saw your post, I bet you are the replacement for us. First Wuhan is a great quiet city, its not a rock and pop type city like Shanghai. But you can save a lot.

About Wuhan Meten, we left and didn't renew our contracts due to contract fraud, it stated in our contract sick leave and and annual leave and overtime benefits and such. But They always changed our contract without or cheated us with regards to the benefits in our contract. Overtime is suppose to be voluntary, right? Wrong, not at Meten they make it where overtime is mandatory, meaning they kind of forced us to work these extra hours, forced us by these long speeches of why and you better, if you want, It's in your best interest too blah blah because Meten pushes teachers out anytime they want.So we didn't want to be fired ( Pushed out) so we worked overtime and I was proud and excited to get a big pay check, so I thought, but it was not to be, It stated in our contracts Y120.00 RMB per overtime hour. But they only paid us Y90.00 RMB per hour for overtime. We approached the boss and the teaching supervisor their during an important meeting sat down with some big clever smiles and said to them: "Hi, we need to talk",, so they looked unhappy we interrupted their meeting, but we were more unhappy and they knew it and we asked them WHY? and they said Oh sorry your contracts are wrong. WRONG? Yes thats right wrong! So they didn't change it. And we informed them that we were not coming back and we never worked a day of overtime again. They hired part-time teachers and said it was our fault for needing to hire part-time teachers. They same thing came up with the same excuses with our holidays, vacations and sick leaves, you'll loose over $200.00 U.S dollars for 1 to 2 days of being sick.

The Books will make you crazy, same thing over and over again will make you sick. The students are wonderful.

Rumors were also a big issue and jokes about us teachers because all the Chinese staff use this messenger like MSN and they chat about us and what we are doing, they are like a spy, they reprot everything you do and talk about. Its like a game to them.

Trust me guys, it is not worth the stress to work at Wuhan Meten. Its better to work for a Middle school or Kindgarten or Highschool. You'll get a lot of days off for vacation, like Chinese New Years: Meten = 4 days off / Middle school or any school with kids = 3 weeks off. ( woo vacation time. )

Meten is just about business, they don't care about you, they can use you anyway they want. Contract is by chinese law? no way, there must be a signed Chinese contract as well, we never got to sign a Chinese contract, only an English contract, the Police told us we were powerless because we didn't have a Chinese contract signed by us and Meten. So to sum it up, English Contract are all fake in China.
