(At the end of this I will attach a link to the photos. I have not finished uploading all the text messages, photos and emails. I will not have time to put everything in perfect order, my apologies.)

1. The contract states that I am supposed to be picked up at the airport. They did not. (Should have set off alarms, that this school didn’t give a damn about the contract.)

2. First apartment, 101, was a temp apartment, Filthy and in serious disrepair. I thought no big deal because this was not my permanent resting place. (Warning sign number 2)

3. Apartment 302, my permanent apartment, in disrepair and filthy. You could see the photos for yourself ( I did not include the photos of 101 because I think it would be unfair). There were major problems with 302, moldy fridge and a broken toilet. Also there was no internet. In addition there were many other problems such as clogged drains (seriously clogged, drano could not help). Basically, it needed to be refurbished. After waiting for about a month for ZhangDawei to stop making excuses I decided to leave. I sent Sandy messages telling her that I wanted to leave. But they did not give me a release letter. The next day Sandy had a new fridge, toilet and the internet installed. I thought this was a sign of things to come, big mistake on my part.

4. My first month’s salary was late. First they told me it would be paid on time, and then ZhangDawei told me some silly BS about the bank making a mistake. It was right before the National Holiday. I was so stupid and trusting, I transferred my money out of the country. I had to survive 8 days by borrowing money from my students. The banks were closed. I had enough and demanded my release. But again I made a very stupid mistake. They asked me to finish out the semester so the students wouldn’t be without a teacher. And boy did I fall for it hook, line and sinker. (Learn this about China, people are seriously manipulative. When you are in a bad situation, think only about yourself and get out immediately!)

5. After having me for the semester, the internet was cut out. This was planned; they knew how I would react to the internet being cut out the week before Christmas. After 5 days of no internet, I told them to fix it or I will not finish up the last week of my classes. They didn’t care . On the 5th day, I canceled a class to meet with them and solve the problem myself. Along with the help of my friend, I was able to get a hold of the technician. The lady at the China Unicom office said that they didn’t pay the bill. Of course they denied this but magically the Tech showed up on day 6. Me canceling that one class was used as an excuse for giving me a bad reference (my demands were excessive, … I often suspended classes). That makes it almost impossible to get a new visa while in China. The PSB didn’t care to do anything. Slander and breaking the contract is something my embassy should handle , according to the guy at the desk.

Learn from my mistakes, if it isn’t right from the very beginning, leave. Go to the PSB, while still under the probationary period. You will have to go back a few times, to get them to do their jobs. Demand that they order the school to give you your release letter.
