Please. we shouldn't be talking about intellectualism here. We should be talking about teaching basic English to the Chinese. If you get too intellectual you will soon become ineffectual, and you won't be teaching your students basic English; whether that be in a TC or in a university. And that adds up to a very poor ESL teacher. Perhaps you need to find a Cambridge University Forum.
