Do you mean like present tense vs. past tense? Seeing how perfect is a tense aspect and not a tense by itself? You cannot put perfect against past/present as perfect is an aspect of those tenses (present perfect/past perfect). You can put perfect vs. simple or continuous, but not against past! [edited]
