No, you should NOT do that. You could lose parts of your salary, your letter of release and/or your flight reimbursement. I would do everything to get it and not simply hand in my letter of resignation.
i know what you mean and I have some sympathy with you. However, it wouldn't be the type of tricky behaviour one should recommend to an impressionable young FT. If we don't watch ourselves and our conduct in life, being tricky and underhand can become a permanent behaviour pattern which can manifest itself even when we are in the wrong. No ,it's better to be honest and straightforward even if it appears to us that we may lose out. It all comes down to pride and self-respect- keeping certain standards of behaviour ,even if others do not do the same. Otherwise, this 'I'm going to get what's coming to me no matter what,mentality can easily make us bitter and twisted in the long run. I am sure you are not like that, but things can create a mean impetus of their own, and the results can be character damaging at the least. Walk tall, walk straight is best, I think you'll agree.
