You have a good memory Taffy, I think you can, not sure. It's one of those odd things that is popular amongst the Indians, much like vimto and a cup of tea. Things that were forgotten from the former empire and are considered "uncool" in England nowadays, are still quite popular in the former colonies. I used to get it in a small glass bottle, was good stuff.Do you like a sup of the whiskey taffy? What's yer poison?
Seem to be dictated to by fads and what's cool and uncool in Britain today. You're right as you mention it; I keep seeing stuff like old washing powder names that we no longer see in Tesco now-a-days popping up in Chinese stores.
You probably know there's a week's holiday looming here in China now. I expect I'll be left on my own and the wife will head for her home-village. Good thing actually, since I drink very little when the family are in place- you can't control a young child on the stairs under the influence of a bellyful of beer. I remember when the baby was 6 weeks in England and the wife was sent back to China for 2 months. I didn't get a drink for two months- but I still managed to bang the babies head on the cot accidentally. Self recriminations set in and I used to go to bed shaking nearly for days. But this next week I can get legless. Oh, forgot to say; two days after banging her head on the cot I decided to cut her nails to stop her scratching her face. The light wasn't favourable and I managed to nick the quick. The quick on a baby's nail extends further. What a nightmare that period was. Fortunately I have never made any such mistakes since.
