Too true, the usual routine in Shenzhen and Guangzhou is to advertise a much higher than usual salary. Then they ask to you venture to China IN PERSON for an interview.. so that you MIGHT get the job. Besides being entirely stupid and illogical for a westerner, if you somehow do make the trip (just for the CHANCE of getting the job). They will lower the salary considerably lower than advertised. They figure you will put up with it because you already traveled to China. It's an old tactic, I am surprised it still works. I think anyone who travels across the world for such a thing isn't the brightest bulb in the department store.
