Now I know what you mean: you can just tell from the way they write. Some are really just too much. Thanks, R.

For the others, I wouldn't take them too seriously. One said, "I have not met one person who has finished their contract with the school." But we were all here at the graduation party at the end of their contracts performing this year. Hello!!! Another suggested to put schools out of business. It's hardly a useful advise. Really childish!

Not only really childish, but also extremely evil. I don't know why those who dislike working for a particular employer don't just move on and let bygones be bygones. Trashing employers on boards like this for no good reason is a dishonest thing to do. It's sad that there are so many foreigners with low morals teaching in the PRC.

Well. For Tim, I know he was fired from his job for doing something very unprofessional and stupid. He was angry after he was fired.

There are a lot of school reviews in the internet. Some is true. But a lot of them are lies. You need to use your own judgement. For some comments, you can just tell if they are true or not from the way they write.

Hi, "R".
You seem to have a point there. But I've a question. If Manhattan is so good, why did Tim Alan, "Sick & Tired" and ... said terrible things about it?

I'm working at MKC. I renewed my contract. I saw many teachers finish their contracts here. I like MKC. They pay on time. All the programs are already planned out for you. You never have to work overtime. They let you know a year ahead the school schedule. Yes. You do need to work on Saturday. But only for 3 hours. What's the big deal? We get long holidays instead. I had worked in other schools in China before. I've seen the real bad ones. I find the principal and manager at MKC very helpful and easy to get along. We're doing teaching, not having parties.Of course everyday is the same schedule. Go and work at other schools and see what you say .

I agree with Tim Allen 100%. They do suck the life right out of you. The work is the same everyday and it becomes so boring that you actually start wishing your life away. As soon as you suggest something they just blow it out the water and it gets ignored. The manager is only out for herself, so don't bother asking for any help or any sympathy. Most of the staff gossip behind your back and make comments about everything that you do. The principal is always on your assistants case to be doing something to make the school more beautiful. The principal is always walking into your classroom to check up on you and either close the windows, turn on or off the air conditioner or make he children put on their sweaters when it's like 100 degrees outside. This school has such potential if they could just get the needs of their teachers correct then they wouldn't have so many people leaving every year. I have not met one person who has finished their contract with the school. So please beware if you are thinking of signing a contract with MKC as the pay is really not that great and you have to work Saturdays.

What can I say...? This place sucks the life out of you. If you value free time and/or spending time with family, this is NOT the place to go. You work 5.5 days a week, and you're REQUIRED to work the after school events (they call them parties, but you are forced to work - the only ones having fun are the kids).

The pay is about average for Shenzhen, but you must pay for everything yourself...your visa, your medical exam, your housing, taxes, etc...

You are given one day as a "sick" day off every two months, but you must get a doctor's note or you get pay deducted...which means you must pay to go see a doctor even if you only have cold and need bed rest...any more days that you take are deducted whether you get a note or not.

They say they use an American curriculum, but the closest they come is owning some Scholastic books (which they photocopy to their heart's desire) that sit on the library shelves and collect dust...the curriculum is written by the Head Teacher (a micromanager who hates anyone who questions her authority) and is basically a hodge-podge of material that makes no sense...

A trained monkey could do this job since all they want is a robot to do exactly what they say when they say to do it...I kid you not...at 9:05 every day I can tell you exactly what the kids and the teachers will be doing in EVERY class...cause it's all the same thing...NO CREATIVITY ALLOWED or you get written up!

The owner will promise you the moon, but does not deliver on them...she claims she is too busy and defers all questions back to the head teacher (who as I said, is a micromanager and whose favorite phrase is "Give it a try first and see if it works" in pertaining to why you must repeat "Ants on the Apple, Ah, Ah, Ah" twenty times).

There are a lot of jobs in Shenzhen and a lot better money with fewer hours and better conditions. Run away from this one!
