Re: Songyuan Foreign studies college

hahahahahahaha!! this is the biggest pile of crap I have ever read. First of all, let me clarify how the things are about me: I was never fired of any job, ever, not until Bill texted me. In Changchun the company I was working for nearly closed because they were making bad use of the passports and every boss in there ran out of the country or ended up in jail. Now, when I came to Songyuan I did it as a part time teacher, and I was going to stay here for 2 - 3 weeks, time during which, I was promised, I would get a one month visa extension that never happened, and instead my passport was kept for more than 6 weeks, refusing Bill to give it back even after he fired and threatened me. During this time I got a few offers from other cities, and informed about this to our "beloved" boss Bill, and he said he wouldn't give me my passport back because he wanted me to stay but getting a laughable salary. So thanks to this, I lost my chance to go to Nanjing and work for a REAL school.
Now, for those who don't believe, I am pasting here an extract of the contract

4. Remuneration
4.1 Party B receives a salary of ¥10,000RMB per month and is responsible for income tax which will be withheld by Party A deducting from the Party Bs salary in line with the Chinese National Taxation Policy. Each months salary is disbursed on the fifteenth of the following month. (Note: If the fifteenth day is on the weekends, the months salary will be disbursed on the next Monday.)

Now, tell me, how am I offered this kind of money if no school in china wants me??? Not forgetting a few other good relations I always keep. Here another example from an email I got from another school in Changchun:
I am looking for some teachers,so i thought of you then called you.My offer is:22hours/week,6000RMB/month,200RMB/month for tansport, house is free,3000RMB/year for airticket.

if you can,i will give you this job next week, and we can discuss clearly face to face,we can contract.

please reply me soon.Regard!

About being a party animal, which in fact I'm not, what do you care??? As far as I remember I was a teacher, not a slave, so i can do as I please with my life.
What Justin says about the late scheduled classes is true. I was told of classes 15 minutes AFTER they started, and then blamed for not wanting to teach them. But Ok, that is a common practice in China. I don't blame you SFSS for that.
Ohh, now, let's go to the good part!! THE VISA... As I already mentioned, I did not request nor agreed on getting a working visa from this school. He did it by himself, bribing people (he says) on the process, and then forcing me to stay, cause if not he could get me in a lot of trouble. Well then, after ending relations with the school, calling my embassy, talking to the police and government of the city and getting threaten by Bill many times, I finally got the passport back, having to pay myself 1800 rmb for a visa that is worth at most 500. So, who is cheating who? As my dear Veronica (sam) said, I let you, wise and intelligent people, with the task of analyzing the information submitted through all these posts and making your own conclusions.
If you need emails of other people who have worked there, I can also get them for you. And by the way, the only foreigner who has been there for more than 4 months and is still there has quit at least 3 times and Bill has to make more promises to get him to stay, but he is anyways leaving for good this december.

One more thing, during the time Justin and i were at SFSS, only one more foreigner arrived, and no chinese. So, your "and now I am coming back to work for this great school again. " is evidently a lie cause you couldn't have met us. Unless of course you are really Veronica, in which case you are not coming back from anywhere, cause you and Clark are the only Chinese teacher that has worked there for more than one year and is still there.

My email: mahoma.iza@gmail.com
If you need to talk to any other foreigner about it before you decide to come, I can get you plenty of them.

Re: Songyuan Foreign studies college

My name is Sam, I used to work for Songyuan Foreign Studies College for 3 years, and now I am coming back to work for this great school again.

I am shocked to see that the people who were fired by Songyuan Foreign Studies College made a evil alliance here on this board to say a lot of bad words about their former employer, the reason is simple, Bacause they got fired. Songyuan Foreign Studies College is a serious teaching institute, In school 5 years history, We have more than 80 teachers from 15 countries who are happy working here, We only fired two bad teachers who are Maohamn(Mao) from Mexico, Justin From Canada, they are very lazy people, party animals and liers. Mao was fired by another Changchun foreign Language school before he came to Songyuan, No school in China wanted him, He cheated a work visa from Songyuan Foreign Studies College, He got fired because he was found working a second job in another school. Now he is still working under the work visa from Songyuan Foreign Studies College at another school.

Do not believe what he and "other people(he is using a lot of diffrient name)" said, If you want to know a real Songyuan Foreign Studies College, talk to the teachers who are currently working there, we have more 20 of Chinese and Foreign teachers now. the school number is 0086 438 2283515, or talk to the teachers who used to work here, we can provide over 50 foreign teachers e-mails or phone numbers, ask them what do they think about songyuan foreign studies college, just e-mail me at samcong@hotmail.com, or call me at 0086 13904381501, I can provide you a list of teachers contacting information.

It is very low that bad people are using this board to against a great school like Songyuan Foreign Studies College, But wise people will make their own jargement anyhow.

Re: Songyuan Foreign studies college

I have also worked for SFSC and I completely agree with what FedEx, Volvo and Isawitall said.
I didn't last long there cause I don't know how to remain quiet upon seeing someone being treated bad. Every time and everywhere, both in China and in Mexico, where I am from, if I see shit happening I have to raise my voice.
With Bill, I came here for a summer, no promises to work for longer or anything, and under a promise of "the boss" of helping me extend my visa for a month, since I already had a good offer in the south, but I wouldn't make it till the starting date with my then current visa. Since I was working per hour, I got a good deal the first week, cut half the second week, the third week only 4 hours (yes!! 4 f... hours, who can live on that??) But no complains about my situation cause I was expecting a favor with my visa. Nevertheless, I started talking to other teachers about theirs and my situation, looking for alternatives.
Anyway, since I arrived, I started noticing how other people would be treated different because of their color, nationality or political importance to the company. I have to make emphasis here on two things I hate about chinese way of doing things in respect to english schools: First, the boss will think we need them; they will have this idea that we are in china because we have nothing better to do or cause we couldn't get a better paid job on our own country. Second: If you do your job well, you will be rewarded with MORE things to do and the same salary!! Sweet, huh?
Well, while some teachers were being forced to exhaustion, others like myself would have to bargain the teaching time, despite the opinion of the students.
Making the story short, the visa process took more than 5 weeks, time after which I was told he had to bribe government officials to get it fixed, without my consent, and getting it updated to working visa for a year, instead of just a one month tourist or business visa as requested, and so, I had to work for him, under his conditions, that were half the salary I would have gotten in the south, and he would refuse to give me my passport back and laughed upon my warning of contacting my embassy, and they keep a copy of the text messages of communication with "the boss".
I like the people in this city. I know nobody on the other place where I was going, and I didn't come to china expecting to get rich and I was promised an apt for myself, so I stayed, but I did contact my embassy, and started taking note of everything happening in SFSC.
Not even a week later, I'm told a new teacher will soon move with me. 7 times did they go into my apt without informing me of it, finding me half nude a couple of times, despite I had complained and requested to be told when someone was coming. Can you imagine go out, come back and find your place different than how you left it? can you picture that 7 times in 3 days?
Well, I took all my stuff and moved to another apt with a friend, somewhere where Bill and his goonies could not reach. But I kept working punctually every day.
Result: I got fired!!
This "boss" will always play two faces, sometimes he will pretend to be your best friend, and then, if he gets to fool you, will change his version and screw you.
I got my passport back when he was trying to get me back to his school, cause he knew some other teachers would end their contracts and he would need someone to replace them. Too late.
This people should learn to think first and talk later.

I still have friends in trouble there. He just fired another friend after inviting him from his country and making work illegally (he never processed my friend's working visa), threatened some other friends to make them or other teachers stay, and still keeps my foreign expert certificate among other stuff belonging to other teachers who have worked in this place.
BTW, I know a couple of the teachers performing a midnight run, and I know there are lots of them.
New comers, I would really warn you to think it 3 times before coming to this place. If your need is not much, and you can look for something else, do it.
Since I am not using a nickname, I certainly expect consequences upon this post. I will keep you up to date if something happens.
Good luck and enjoy China. There is still lots of good things in this country.
