I have experienced students reviewing teaachers at privately run universities in Korea, Poland and in other parts of the world; I never experienced that at public universities in China and elsewhere.

By befriending the students in charge of academic study in some of my classes, I managed to get my having been assessed confirmed, after having seen my students filling out forms during my classes, about three weeks into the first semester!
Your public universities in China must have been adept at doing this behind your back! Or did you agree to giving demo lessons first? In which case I'd reckon a later assessment would probably have been demmed unnecessary.
Maybe you didn't know that these days many public universities in China are being run like private schools! Capitalism has now encroached into the public education sector here. Personally, I think it's a bad thing as profit overrides the pursuit of knowledge.
