This fake degree subject did in fact make you very angry, you swore in a post. So, it's clear you deplore the use of fake documentation to obtain employment as a teacher. I think many people do too. But a significant number don't, when it comes to 'teaching' oral English in China....lol!
The recent posts against Turnoi were instigated on account of his perceived terseness and superior attitude that was evident when he replied to what some posters had said. The fake degree issue was just a part of that problem. That's my reading of why there has been a lot of vitriol, the vitriol being more about the way things were said by some posters, rather than what was actually said.
Those without inflated egos who were criticised will not dwell on that. However, those criticised who are basically snobs will resent what has happened to them in this respect, so long as they are able to recall it. That's the litmus test of being a snob or not. We should move on now, and accept that people may have contrasting views.
