Re: YUMING EDUCATION CENTER - TIANJIN

Yuming has no Ties to the PSB. Amy works in a mediocre capacity for the government. My Chinese family has ties to the PSB, we are good friends with the police commissioner who oversees the PSB. We got a favour and he checked her out and basically informed us that she is no one of any relevance.

You say you only worked there for 6 months and so the summer months did not effect you, that would be because you were lucky enough to work between the holiday periods, nothing more.

Someone I know worked on a 6 month contract and ended up out of work for 3 of those months. They decided to find some private teaching work and made some business cards. Helen visited the residential area where he was living with a new teacher and saw the cards, hos name and phone number so knew who it was. She went straight to the local police station and tried to get him in trouble. Unfortunately for her, he was teaching the officers son privately and he had become quite good friends with the teacher so the officer told Helen to sling her hook.

They were unable to do a great deal to him as his visa was not connected to Yuming anyway and he was not going to work there again.

They are nothing but an immature, greedy and manipulative organisation who do not think twice about stepping on you if it works in their favour. Yes, there are a handful of teachers escape any wrong doing by Yuming, but I believe this is intentional. If they let some teachers leave happily then when those teachers see poor comments made they are likely to defend Yuming, casting doubt over the validity of the poor comments.

I myself worked along side another teacher, we both left at the same time and both gave the same reasons for leaving. He left without any issues, I was screwed around. We had both been outstanding teachers in the 12 months we worked there and very much liked by the schools we were in as well as Yuming. It was only upon informing them I wanted to leave I ran into these issues. Explain how two identical teachers can say they are leaving and one gets screwed and the other does not, as I say, its intentional.

If you weigh up all the comments regarding Yuming on the web, you will find the bad ones far outweigh the good, and many of the good ones are either generic posts that turn up everywhere, suggesting Yuming themselves have got a teacher to write it and then post it up everywhere. Some of the others are in pigeon English, and we all know who has written those, put it this way, god forbid they are a teacher with an English ability like that.

Thanks all the same for your advice. But if you don't mind, I'll forego the wonderful experience of working for Yuming Education Center. I'm just happy for the OP, who has had a great time there. Just because I said that, doesn't mean I want to work at training centers. You see, they're not my cup of tea. Like you, I prefer working elsewhere. One man's meat is another man's poison.

Well, then you should be the first to accept a "wonderful" job and work for this "great" center.

In my opinion, only the losers would work for a place like that; they are many, many better jobs at real reputable schools!

The better jobs, however, are only accessible for those with a decent educational background.

Many thanks for putting us all in the picture re Yuming Education Center. There must be some great training centers just like yours all over this great country. For the life of me, I cannot underestand why there are so many complaints about training centers on the net. It's clear some evil foreigners have nothing better to do than berate training centers as a single entity within the education system. They should not be naive in this respect. Great training centers do exist. There must be some exceptions to the rule!

Re: YUMING EDUCATION CENTER - TIANJIN

Many companies will 'cheat' their employees and try to lower the pay and Yu Ming has never tried to change the contract or lower the amount of money paid to me.The girls at the office are, for the most part, honest with the teachers and do not try to take advantage of the teacher's inexperience for their own ends. The center provides teachers with teaching material and a general plan for the term which is far more than many companies will give to their employees. The center regularly sends girls to 'check up' and see how the classes are going even without provocation to show the teachers that it matters to the company what is happening at the school. The center will listen to criticism and, under some circumstances, change it's approach to some teachers based on the criticism and requests. The center will offer teacher's more classes if they want more work and even set up tutoring on the side of teachers for the benefit of the teachers. I am very happy the company was willing to move me to the city upon request, is willing to give me information about the visa extention and offers to help transfer the visa if I may find another job.

Re: YUMING EDUCATION CENTER - TIANJIN

I have to say that i am surprised by these posts. I worked for yuming for a year but iwas sure to sign six month contracts so I was not obligated during the summer months. I was also gladly given a reference letter at the end of my stay. It is true that the T.A's were generally of little use except as crowd control. any one with any sense will know on looking at the contract that you should procure your own apartment all this involves is knowing a chinese person who is willing to help. I never had a problem getting paid whats more i was given allot of help. The school itself is just an arrangement to send teachers to schools throughout tianjin. Maybe they have loaded up on teachers and now dont have enough work to dole out, but when I work there i generally was paid around 10k a month. I was treated as if I was valuable to them, and people gave me help i certainly did not get the impression i was being spied on. One thing of note is psbs pressence in tianjin is quite strong and the company certainly has ties there, however im sure that most succesful buisnesses in tianjin do, this can actually be beneficial to you if you have visa problems. One problem is that you will almost certainly have to teach at multiple schools which can be tiring and if you take taxis, which you will probably want to, costly. I dont know how the situation has changed but if you do decide to work there sign a six month contract form september through february or. if you sign at the begging of a school year thet will undoutably have more hours for you and if you have teaching experience and they no this you are also likely to be given more work. I have to say i have dealt a fair amount of crap teaching in china especially with whole olympics fiasco but very little of that was in any way the product of yumming. your not going to make fourteen grand a month, if you want to do that go to korea. This is a good place to get experience as a teacher and an easy place to get a job. What has been going on there within the last two years especially in regards to a foreign experts certificate is beyond me, it iused to be much easier to work on a buisness visa I dont know how much this has changed.
