A "whitey" with or without a degree, working 10 or 11 hours a week for 5000RMB a month with free housing and untilities at a university is well off and highly paid in comparison.

Yeah but who wants to only work 10 or 11 hours a week. Unless you got a business project or are doing heaps of extra part time teaching/tutoring outside(bear in mind in most public contracts, this is not allowed, but perhaps tolerated as long as "unseen") studying for an MA or PHD or seriously studying Chinese, you are going to be pretty bored/borderline alchoholic/broke.

Are you telling me that most people only want to work 10-11 hours a week and are content to earn 5000 rmb a month? Most people seem to have more ambition than that, come on! Not against you, just I can't believe anyone could be so lazy that they want to only work that amount, and be satisfied earning such small money.
