Re: NDI (New Dynamic Institute)

Granted, it is difficult for anyone to judge every situation. Perhaps I got lucky or perhaps I created my own luck!

I am certainly not a brown nose corporate yuppy! I have stood a hard line and fought for equitable values on many an occasion. As I stated, I openly refused the founder's request to recruit for the said company in any but my own jurisdiction. It just got too untenable to be the meat in the sandwich. It was possible to exert corporate influence when the company was in its' embryonic stage but not possible as the company forged ahead to be one of the leading ESL trainers in the PRC. That is indisputable evidence; whereas many other ESL companies have floundered into obscurity under poor management. That in itself, as a Chinese business model is credible. It is not easy to be at the helm of so many variables so perhaps the critics should try to understand that even in western countries, EDUCATION is BUSINESS!!!

As I stated, I got lucky and hammered away to win respect and to bring a balance for most teachers in my city that I assisted to recruit. Most of them absolutely loved their job with us. Nevertheless, they like me have still had to scrap occasionally. That is part of the challenge for me because I support my own cause and the cause of the people whom I recruit. Having said that, some of them are turncoats and do not pay due respect for the conditions I stuck my neck out for, so it is logical to take a back seat and let the dogs scrap for their own crumbs. New recruits however will still have my full support should they require it. Want a job in a great company in a great city email kaibo888@gmail.com

The slanderous critics might wander in their own circle for a moment, are we not all SELF--ish or is self preservation being eroded by the sands of time? The just judge said ... let one who denies his own misgivings look deep into his own sphere of darkness before hypocrisy determines that all are guilty and therefore all are condemned. Scrap on dudes! As for me--I hope I don't have to stoop low to become an indiscriminate condemnatory fiend. My goodness, that was indiscriminate of me --"Guilty!"--said the judge, the jury and the executioner!

Many times I have witnessed problems that are directly caused by the FTs themselves as well. As I stated, there is none perfect--not one! There are so many people who believe they are owed respect but perhaps respect is forged by winning friends and influencing people as well or by exerting sufficient control means to have influence in our own spherically inclined circles. I have even taught Chinese clients how to negotiate with individual management to make sure they get what they pay for --that definitely takes me out of the inner circle of being a gutless liar or cheat or a supporter of culture that accepts that as filial.

This in my mind all contributes to a measure of success in one manner or another. The proof is in the pudding, many happy clients are found in numbers within the corporate NDI structure in my city and we are rated the #One ESL trainer in this jurisdiction by independent voters --clients, parents and education dept. representatives are the adjudicators. We consistently perform at the highest level in the corporate NDI structure which spans about 40 centres or more. In that, our centres feature constantly in the top rung and many times we are the star on the tree. Not because of beguiling reasoning but due to the following:
We have stable full-time foreign experts who by and large have great service ethics and are great orators to boot. Also a large part of our success is based on referrals from clients who love our structure and from clients who sign on for another year or two because the ESL environment we foster is effective. Personally, in my centre I insist on more than 20 public open classes in the mix weekly because service is the benchmark for success and Chinese people in our jurisdiction are by and large cottoning on to that principle.

What happens in other spheres if justly stated is regrettable and uncontrollable by any lone individual, not only that, it is largely unknown to me as well these days. One day in the by and by, as my fellow jousters stated, what goes around comes around; more power to the just!
