Re: VIP China of Beijing

One aspect of working for that agent is the renumeration you receive for a ten month contract. The whole package should add up to around 60,000 RMB, including air fare compensation, for an FT employed in a public middle school in China. If that is applicable to you, as an agency teacher, you're doing okay. However, if you're making significantly less than that, I'd say you're being screwed over. Also bear in mind that it is standard practice for FT's to receive full pay during the long vacation that occurs in the middle of your teaching contract, as that's the way your Chinese colleagues are treated. However, unlike them, you should get a travel allowance of at least 2,200 RMB. Of course, your accommodation should be free of rental charges. I think now you are in a position to assesss your own employment situation accurately.

I don't know where you are coming from Turnoi. I am currently on contract to VIP China and the whole thing ran smoothly, right from the day I landed in Beijing. I was in Beijing for 2 days while they sorted out my contract and contacted the school, for which they put me up in the apartment next to their office, free of charge. They even had someone show me around the area so I wouldn't get bored.

Then I caught a train down to Loudi in a sleeper cabin for which the Agency paid for after signing a contract with a middleschool. VIP handled all the paperwork for me and occasionally contacts me to see if everything is going ok. Not only that but they have communications with he school to make sure the school is living up to the contract. I have a large apartment in the school for which I don't have to pay. The bills are taken care of by the school and internet is free.

I have 19 classes per week, which is probably more than I'd like, but I hear that's pretty standard for a foreign English teacher working in a public school.

Perhaps if you were to state some reasons why they are a bad company and not just make wild accusations, you would have a little more credibility.
