"I never said everyone was happy with each other. I said they were happy with the school. And I don't really care"
I apologise to Kevin/Steve, he didn't actually say the words "Gay old time" but he did say all FT's were happy with the school. To my mind the artistic licence of my using "gay old time" is perfectly permissible when it's claimed that 30 teachers are happy at a Chinese "school"-Guinness book of records stuff that. What the term "gay old time" has to do with sexual orientation I don't know. Bit like "gay old dog" which describes a man who really likes women.
Now listen up everybody, I have apologised for using words Kevin didn't actually say. You will all know that Kevin claimed unequivocally that I obviously had no experience of China because I mistakenly referred to his school as a centre. I replied to him using two messages, one written in Chinese. You will note, to date, no apology has been forthcoming-from that we can see the measure of the man,
While we are talking of schools and centres etceteras, how do we distinguish a school? Only one way, are all the lessons taught under one roof or in one complex? (This has to include some centres) If not we could be talking about a teacher supply agency which sends teachers out to other schools it doesn't own. A teacher supply agency is not a school, neither is a recruitment agency. We all know, we have recruitment agencies and teacher supply agencies referring to themselves as schools in China-and they often bung in INTERNATIONAL for good measure.
Ok Foxy/turnoi/tom, whoever you are, Steve, myself, never said anyone was having a 'GAY OLD TIME'. Nope, never said that. That was Tom, I believe. How did we get on the topic of sexual orientation, by the way? You all have turned this website into cloud cuckoo land. People calling each other various names, talking about sexual orientation, taking debates in circles upon circles. I never said everyone was happy with each other. I said they were happy with the school. And I don't really care what you can 'IMAGINE,' although I am beginning to see that much of these responses have more to do with imagination than fact. Personally, I never worked for your last school, so unlike Turnoi, I don't consider myself an authority on it. I have worked at schools were people hated each other as well, and, of course, I am not fond of every teacher. But, these posts have to do with the school, and the teachers being happy with IT. The reason why you can read Turnoi's thoughts easily is because they are so base, so animalistic, that the say, 'LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME! YOU KEVIN! YOU BAD! ME GOOD.' That about sums it up. This is getting insane, and going in circles, when all I said to begin with was that 'I WORK THERE. I KNOW THE TEACHERS. I KNOW no one has complaints with the school.' I, personally, went out with them a few nights ago, and many were talking about staying another year. And really, most of the teachers who work there are very nice people. I apologize if that is hard for you to believe. Don't believe it for all I care. Don't imagine it either, if you don't want to. But it is true. I see it on a daily basis. All I am trying to do is tell the truth, and people are making all kinds of crazy claims (people who have never seen the school) and saying 'Child molester' 'fake school,' talking about homosexuals, and saying 'gay old time' and pretending like I was the one who said it. I must say, this is really becoming ridiculous. The people who waste there all their free time on this site clearly are insane, and just want to fight and insult each other and everyone else. I am ashamed that I have been dragged into this petty, childish, and malicious world.
The last place I worked at had many laowai, some of whom hated each other's guts. Next time, I'll work for a Chinese employer who only employs a couple of FT's. For some reason there are FT's who are ultra competitive and self-serving in the mix in China. I can well do without meeting 'em. They are much more devious than the Chinese - at least I can read the latter's thoughts and emotions easily.
Personally, I feel that homophobia, along with any kind of racism/discrimination has no place in the workplace, esp. a school office. Whether one is gay, has no bearing on their ability/due dilligence as a teacher.
What is the classroom or the office is class/work time.
Outside of that, personal time, that is, as long as all marking gets done at home, and lets face it, noone likes lesson prep/marking:)
As for some FT's being cunning, par for the course in China alas. What do you expect when no CRB is carried out?
Reading the Chinese thoughts and emotions easily....hmmmm? Depends what face they are wearing don't you think?
Aside from their sexual orientations, it's hard to imagine 30 FT's from diverse western cultures and varying backgrounds within said cultures being able to have 'a gay old time' at any workplace, be it in China or in the west. In fact, Steve's post shows he's in cloud cuckoo land!

Go on submitting your splendid posts, Turnoi - they are always a good read!
