Usually people don't get on the internet to say good stuff about their jobs .Only those who werent happy and want to complain. To be honest .A lot of Chinese companies are reluctant to get rid of foreingers as it's getting harder and harder to hire a foreigner here .Most of them will try everything to keep the foreigner happy. For anyone who is applying for a job in China .My suggestion would be if you can get access to talk /email someone who is working for said company ,then do it .
Australian International Education Program or AIEP in Beijing is a company that hires foreign teachers to work in different locations all over China, they pay teachers salaries between 8,000 to 15,000 CNY monthly depending on their teaching experiences and qualifications. Australian International Education Program or AIEP in Beijing is one of the most unprofessional companies in China, they lie, the don't pay salaries on time, micro management, and the do illegal stuff. If you got a job offer from these guys all what you need to do is to flee.
I have worked for this company for 1 year and in that time I have been moved to here different schools the second apartment that I had as the worse apartment I have ever seen but was told there were no other options so had to live in it. The first school I worked for was fantastic there were no issues, the staff and children were brilliant and the apartment was really nice. Everyone was really friendly. The second school I went to the students were horrific. They had no discipline and no desire to learn which made teaching the few who did want to very hard. I received no support from e teachers or the company. The third and final school I went to the children had a high level of ability and a great desire to learn however the school was inexperienced with having foreign teachers and that created a number of different issues. The company has no respect for their teachers and view them as property especially if you are alone and not working as a couple. You have no say in where you teach or how long you stay there. They have broken their contract and refused to pay the correct amount of money owed when I was leaving. They also advises that they would be disciplining the Chinese staff as I was unwilling to stay. The company is in all honesty a disgrace. Id I could give anyone wanting to working in China a piece of advice it would be to not work for this company. Their contracts mean nothing to them.
AIEP is an actual company, however, I would not recommend any teachers to apply to this company. They have broken their contracts with teachers for no reason, not paid salary that was owed, and have little to no respect for what we do as teachers. Often times we are paraded around like dancing monkeys for the amusement of the students who, the majority of the time, don't even want to learn English. If you want to be disrespected, underpaid, and treated like a piece of furniture, then you should choose AIEP. If you want to be treated well, look elsewhere.
AIEP is a legit recruiting company that places teachers in schools throughout China, mainly in third tiered cities. I have been with the company for two years. They have paid me on time and have taken good care of me. They provide valid, legal visas and other documentation. They are affiliated with educational services out of Australia. They operate the UEI system in many school. There is nothing wrong with this company, besides the usual Chinese BS business operations. But, as for teachers working for them, they are legit and legal to be here. Nothing wrong with working for this company. I think the official post is from a disgruntled former teacher that has been either fired or quit due to his own lackings. Yes. The office is located in a hotel on the university campus, along with many other offices that the hotel leases on the third floor. They are not affiliated with the university. They merely rent space in the hotel business office floor. AIEP has been in business for nearly 10 years (I believe). They have always been fair in my treatment and other teachers I know that have worked for them. There have been some teachers that have been dismissed due to their behavior and unprofessional teaching abilities.
I am really overwhelmed by these chinese illegal recruiters. They are working in the Government offices in Beijing and calling me and asking for a fee? When I called the office which he claimed he was working for there was no such person working there. I wanted the government to put such people into jail for corruption and putting foreign people into mess. He was invisible before and now he is asking me for a fee?
As I am from Glasgow, work for AIEP and joined them in Beijing in Feb (the same time, place and people as you describe, I was there and met). I am upset at the least that you would include me in your post (I'm guessing you must mean me). I have been with the company now for 10 months and have had a great time here. My pay is good and always on time, I live exactly where they advertised, my accomodation is 1st class and I am left to teach according to my rules, the school is nice and they have bent over backwards to help me. I came here through an awful company (chinaesl) who left me homeless and penniless in Beijing after me flying here for a job that didn't exist. AIEP, despite not having a vacancy at the time, paid for my hotel and living expenses for 3 weeks until the position I wanted became available.
I do however remember the most beligerant, rude. angry, awful man I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. Despite living in China previously he had no understanding of working in China and hadn 't so much as googled the town he had applied to work in. I really cant understand people who come here and are then surpised at what they find. It only take a little homework. There are companies out there who will take you for everything and leave you for dead, I've been there, but AIEP is not one of them. So please do not involve me in any petty arguments over a company you spent less than 1 day with.
Beware: These people call themselves AIEP and work out of an office on the Beijing University of Foreign Studies HOTEL. They have nothing to do with the respectable AIEP (much like the disney school in shanghai I suppose has nothing to do with the film industry giant) and nothing to do with Beijing University other than they rent an office in the campus hotel.
I came to Beijing for training in a `new Australian curriculum` before going to teach at a college in Jiangsu. When I got here I found the `teacher` was the boss who claimed to have considerable contacts in Australia but in fact could speak a word of English, nor is he a teacher. The new curriculum were a couple of old unwieldy efl books which he tried to claimed would cover an entire year`s curriculum. When I pointed out this would not be the case for a twenty hour week he simply took to insulting us constantly and told us we had to learn to do things `the Chinese way`.
In my interviews from Nanjing I had asked all the questions suggested by Gregory Mavrides in the teachers forum which unless you have the person in front of you strapped up to a lie detector.....
The `college` was not in Jiangsu but in the middle of nowhere north of Beijing at half the salary I had been offered. One of the teachers with me had flown from Glasgow on these shysters promises. As you can imagine I am not taking up the position. BE WARNED
