I am one of the two Filipino sisters at Huamei. I am currently on holiday here in the
Philippines til the end of the month. There is no Sarah at Huamei.
Me and my sister have been reading all the posts here and we will NOT
in anyway comment on whatever we read in here for we know so well
we are NOT going to benefit from doing so. All i can say is: we love our
JOB. And my question is: where in China does racism not exist?
Oh by the way, i stated my real name here, so for those who knew us,
yes, it's me. Got nothing to hide eh.
Nice day everyone!

SARAH,I KNOW THERE ARE TWO FILLIPINOS SISTERS IN THIS SCHOOL AND DON'T KNOW IF ONE IS SARAH.WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO DEFEND THIS HUAMEI KINDERGARTEN AND TRAINING CENTRE THING DOWN GRADING THE FILLIPINOS?YOU SIGN A CONTRACT WITH 20 OR 30 LESSONS FOR 45MINS AND LATER THEY GIVE YOU MORE CLASSES FOR 35MINS.THEY DO IT LIKE THIS 30 MULTIPLIED BY 45 WHICH WILL GIVE THEM 38.5 CLASSES.I KNOW EVERY THING ABOUT THIS SCHOOL.SO,IF YOU WANT TO DEFEND OK.YOU GOT YOUR REASONS WHY YOU WORK THERE BECAUSE THERE ARE BETTER SCHOOLS FOR FILLIPINOS.IVY IS NOT WRONG.

haha! Here comes this agent ivy2003@eslengtop.com with this binzhou school again! Please, kindly give some respect to fillipine teachers. Why do you want them to work 5000 for 40hrs in a kindergarten as a foreign teacher? Why not teachers from other countries? What are you hiding? If you think fillipinos are foreigners, why not give them standard salary or working hours? This school must be a bad school.Avoid it!!!!

"I once knew of a SERBIAN teaching kids english at a kindergarten in China, when asked how he learnt english, he said from watching american movies growing up...I mean, is this the barometer for a foreign teacher in China, looking white enough and just being able to know some english...come on!!"

Barometer??? You have the wrong instrument, you mean measuring stick, surely- that's the sort of error I make after watching an American film.

Now what has happened? This person called Ivy starts off this thread-she suggests she's Filipino-she certainly hasn't been anywhere near American films since her grasp of English is not even good enough for that dubious experience. She is most probably a Chinese lady. Whatever she is or is not, she does know how to press all the right buttons, (with remarks about white faces and poor coloured people) and get you all falling over each other to prove how anti-racist you are.

The Serbian to whom you refer should not be discriminated against on the strength of him watching American films or being white. I suggest that he shouldn't be teaching because he's not a native born English Speaker. This is not a question of colour, although I understand it is for many Chinese employers. When I was studying French (A level only) I would have felt short-changed if I hadn't of had a French French teacher- his or her colour would have been irrelevant.

Have a look at the IVY post again and then tell me you think she'd make a fine enough teacher of English to tell blue-eyed dude from Pennsylvania "sorry pal, the vacancy has been filled!" let's have less of the righteous indignation, liberally ladled out to obscure the facts.

"that's right... the whiter your face the faster you get the job.. My student on campus told me last year the Philippino was not given another contract based on this white face thing.. sad but true"

I can understand a Chinese employer preferring to employ a native born English speaker, rather than a Filipino, a Russian, a Dane. As good as second language English speakers can get, and I know Filipinos can be good they do not know English as well as native born speakers.

You don't seem to get many coloured native born English, American, Australian FT's, it just doesn't seem to be their bag-now, if any of those were refused a position because of their colour we should quite rightly be up in arms about it.

I have worked alongside black African teachers, to be honest whereas I found them to be good fun people I had trouble understanding what they were on about most of the time. However, if the Chinese schools are going to put these teachers alongside white FT's and charge their clients the same then they should get equal pay. Personally if I were a boss I would only employ clearly spoken teachers, irrespective of colour.

Chinese companies will often pass off second language African English speakers as native born English speakers, paying them less than white FT's; thus swindling both the Africans and the Chinese students.

"This kind of a school is racist and they know why they need a fillipino teacher(5000rmb for 40hrs for fillipinos,30hrs for blacks and 18hrs for an illitrate white .Private schools in China don't care about your education. They just need but a white face. They just do but show bussiness. In the end they will always be a loser because an illitrate teacher can not handle students for a long time and the parents want something good for their children

Come on! In USA,UK and other countries there are many teachers from all over the world with different skin colour.

It's really funny to find someone with no education in a classroom in [edited] private school in China teaching just because his or her face is white Ivy,you must be [edited].I think you should travel to see the world. HAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHH....come on!!!!"

It's a tad difficult to know what you're on about. I think you are saying that you're a Filipino teacher and you're not to happy about something. One thing is for sure, your English is mite self-defeating.

Are you a different person than the IVY you replied to? Or was it the IVY that replied to you? Is this an early April 1st joke?
