Re English First Moscow

Thanks Turnoi for the reply, this is very serious. There are more Russians in control of that school than there are English Speaking representatives. There is drugs, money laundering, you name it, it goes on. EF is no more professional than there are men from Mars. The latest developments are that legal proceedings have begun, and notice will be served on their HQ in Switzerland. The Russian Embassy has been alerted to the visa scam in London, so they might be a bit more wary when it comes to issuing of visas? Ivor Galea and all his cronies at this school, they think that because foreigners dont know the language, that they wont know what do do in a crisis, so they just walk over them, but sadly, not on this occassion, as the law is now involved and they are going to be checked out. It also involves fraud, taking/deducting money for things which they have no right to do. Anna Stroem is the director for EF corporate and has failed to act against these matters, but will soon realise the seriousness of the matters when the Police come knocking. They conduct themselves in real Russian, persian bizarre type manner, I would warn anyone against taking a contract with this company. They have lost all of their contracts due to their attitude, and as well as the quality of service they provide. There are no companies in Moscow that want to deal with them, and if you read what I have written you can see why. The authorities are now involved, and hopefully this will see an end to the matter and also for EF doing business in Russia. They dont care about people, they are not people orientated, it's all about money and what they can get out of it. Their turnover is very high where teachers are concerned, and they employ anyone, even those without qualifications, and the visas are not granted directly from the government, but obtained under the table and by means of the "back door" if you know what I mean? Please consider carefully working for this very rogue company, because if you do, you place a lot at grave risk, even that of your personal safety. Even the Russian teachers that work for this company are treated badly and as non-persons. Before taking any job, check it out, do some research, and always ask advice from the Embassy, find out the bad reports concerning the company, and if you have a gut feeling it may not be so good, then follow those feelings and spare yourselves the grief.

English First Moscow - Russia

Ever thought about working in Russia? Be very careful if you do, and especially with English First Moscow. They will rip you off, leave you homeless and penniless, not hold fast to the contract, and will abuse your rights if you do not know them.

English First Moscow (Ivor G[edited]), they are currently the subject of court procedures and investigation by the Russian procurator (district attorney) with regards to abuse of the labour law, registration and visa violations.

These matters have gone to the HQ in Switzerland, but English First, they are no better than any of the other schools one may apply to, and this is not a first for them either, as they are quite experienced at it. The office staff are mainly Russian, and abusive and rude beyond belief, and there are very few representaives there for the native teachers in question.

They have lost all their contracts, they have no work for the teachers, and they will put you in shitty accommodation with users of alcohol and drugs. Once you arrive, then you are on your own, and any problems one may have, they dont care one iota.

They have work there for a few of their core teachers, and what scraps are left over are thrown to the others.

I would be very careful about this and research it through first before coming, and ask your Embassy if they have had any complaints regarding the company.

I would seriously take these suggestions on board before you committ yourself.
