Oh, don't get me wrong.

Firstly, apologies about my incorrect dating (although, with the dates you mentioned, it's still close to 5 years). Which still leaves the question - why stay for so long?? Why ask the President to 'investigate' when you were so obviously not happy with the place? There are other universities in JJ (that pay better - the one near Walmart puts its FT's in the on-campus hotel - pays 500RMB more, and they do less hours - and don't teach at a primary school ...).

I'm not going to defend SS. I fully get what you're saying about him.

Nor am I going to imply that JJU is amazing and fantastic.

Nor am I going to question your 'credentials', nor some of the events that you have outlined.

I'm just saying, that it's not 'horrific' (as Alain said), but more what most people can expect from China in a low-tier university.

No, I call you 'Angry Stan' because you are an angry person. I've spoken to you many times, and there was always that anger coming through.

And no, I don't agree there are students who are 'angry' their parents sent them there. Sure, there are ones who are not happy, and want to be somewhere else. But I'm not going to say 'angry'.

Disruptive students? Sure - so, I kick them out of class... If they want to do it again, there is the dean I will send them to. I don't hit students, I don't stomp on their mobile phones and throw them out of the window.

I also have a lot of students who want me to continue teaching them.. and I've had my fair share of students from different departments who come to my classes who want to learn (at least partly because the other FT's won't let them in theirs!!!). I've got references written by some of my students - who chose to write them for me. I've got literally hundreds of students only too happy to come up and chat with me when they see me, who invite me to their class parties, who want to come over and cook for me...

People are people, no matter where you go. There are good, and their are bad.

I just don't like seeing a very obviously one-sided story get told, and people accept as 'the truth'.

"I only wanted (SS) to fairly access my performance compared with other foreign teachers" - HA!!! Not going to happen - ever! And that won't change, no matter where you work here.

Fecal matter - yeah, well, it's not the first, and probably not the last, time. (I notice you didn't mention the toilets in the teaching buildings....).

But, for a different perspective to all those reading this thread (or who do a search when looking for a job in China, and have been offered one from JJU) - there are those who choose to stay on here - some people can tolerate the crap, and just live and work here without having a bucket-load of issues and problems.
