I have met individuals in the gulf who have saved up well beyond three times the amount of 10,000 rmb! You couldn't make me bat an eye if you had told me you saved up 40,000 rmb's! A real miser who is willing to put up with boredom can save up close to ten times that amount working in other parts of the world teaching english!

20,000rmb a month is nothing when converted to USD or AUD, and it will go nowhere in a city like Sydney or London, or even "new world cities" like Brisbane or Perth.
I would agree. I knew this one younger fool, a bit full of hubris for my liking, bragging about how he had 10,000 rmb saved. He was then later bragging how he had 10,000 rmb in cash to take home to the UK.
I informed that 10,000rmb equates to nothing in the uk, but he was living with his parents at the time. And had his flight back.
