As for Filipinas going to Hongkong to shop for signature clothers and everything, that's
their own business, not yours.

You are wrong again.

It is our business!

Claiming poverty while wiring home your public school job salary, and working illegally and immorally on the side (a breach of the public school job contract!), which even if not technically illegal, is still just plain immoral.

Don't put yourself on a pedestal, lest you get knocked off it...

Re: METEN / Review on "Meten English", Shenzhen, Guangdong

The worst of it is that many Filipinas on the mainland of China are stealing jobs
that would otherwise be available to foreign native speakers of English.

Oh dearie, bad Filipinas, right? But hey, maybe, just maybe they were seen with
more potential as teachers than those native speakers of English that's why
they were hired instead.

But the problem for them there is that they can't get teaching jobs, though
they'd love to. They're not native speakers of English that's why.

There he goes. How well do you know about Filipinas in Hongkong? I worked in
Hongkong in the '90s as an assistant to a defence/se lawyer from the UK. You were
right, most of us didn't work as teachers of English NOT because we are not
native speakers of the language but because of the job orders available for Filipinos
in the place, that's WHY. Job offers for us were for offices, banks, the railroads/tunnels,
hotels, and househelps/nannies.

As for Filipinas going to Hongkong to shop for signature clothers and everything, that's
their own business, not yours.

Pertinent and accurate, as usual Silverboy.
The worst of it is that many greedy Filipinas on the mainland of China are stealing jobs that would otherwise be available to foreign native speakers of English. They do so by taking on second teaching positions without asking for permission from their initial Chinese Z visa sponsoring employers. By doing so they are also evading income tax, and why? In many cases not to feed poor families back home, but to shop for designer clothes or vacation in HK, which they think is far superior to the mainland, as well as the HK Chinese. But the problem for them there is they can't get teaching jobs, though they'd love to. They're not native speakers of English, that's why. Yet they still think it's a great place compared to the mainland! They work all hours on the mainland only to fritter away their earnings in a much more expensive place. I csn't figure them out, but the way they behave in China has put me off ever going to the Philippines.
