It is not true
I know of teachers that told me AYC pays late,not do visas and not make work permits.
They also hire teachers withour degrees.

AYC is just fine, and so is KD/Doha.
As you might imagine, some rather unsavory characters turn up in Thailand, and the unfortunate reality is that they become angry at others after failing themselves.
AYC pays on time every month, takes care of visa services, and provides a bit of support.
You'd be surprised at just how many older guys who are child molesters that AYC has fired, or people hiding a criminal record back in their countries.
This agency is just fine for first-time teachers, and good teachers who want to stay in Thailand will gradually build connections to find their own jobs.
I'd give AYC a 4 out of 5.
