Re: Re EF English First Shenyang - good/bad?

Well, I can say the reason so many folks hate EF can come from a myriad of so many different reasons, for one having to deal with some idiot like you at work every day. I just love laughing at people who don't really understand chinese, never made an effort to learn their own native language properly (English), and then want to say how great a place is. Your unashamed display of stupidity is providing decent new year's entertainment for me! Hahaha!

Re: Re EF English First Shenyang - good/bad?

As Turnoi said, just look at this post by an EF teacher in Shenyang...just look at the quality, and I mean lack of quality, of the English language:

"That's a fact! EF isn't a global educator that attracts professional EFL teachers in there myriads for no reason. We should always trust the words of those with actual work experience at EF. At least EF offers a career structure to its Western staff. Those professionals who have what it takes to excell at work will ascend the ladder of promotion, and thereby benifit financially."

Spelling mistakes: benefit, among others as benefit!

Grammar: what does "in their myriad" mean?

This isn't Chinglish...this is illiterate.

Well I guess someone who has or is working for EF has more incite into working conditions than someone who hasn't worked there.

Well, "Will" must be someone paid by EF, isn't it?

Re: Re EF English First Shenyang - good/bad?

Someone who has been teaching for years on end as a volunteer on another continent far from Asia is constantly posting negatively regarding private employers in China. Weird, isn't it? Turnoi's words should be taken with a huge grain of salt!

Re: Re EF English First Shenyang - good/bad?

Firstly if the business model was that terrible then they wouldn't be in business. Not only are they in business the are expanding at a rapid rate. Personally i couldn't give two hoots if the business model is sound or not. They pay my wages and allow me to live the kind of lifestyle i want.

Secondly, I agree that if you are a fully qualified teacher you would not want to go and work for EF. It would be a waste of your time. However, to claim that everyone who works for them is educationally and socially sub-normal is fasical and further illustrates my point about people who make general statements like this.

People come to teach in China for a number of reasons - to learn the language, to teach & travel their way around a part of or all of the world or simply because they can't think of anything else better to do. I very much doubt many of them continue in education after the year they spend with as you put it 'a language mill' so they probably don't care how it looks on their CV. What they care about is that they can make enough money to live in and experience China and that get fairly treated in terms of living & working conditions. I'll reiterate that not all EF schools will provide you with this but from my actual experience i can confirm that some will.
