Re: ESLConsultant China & Liaoning Medical University

It's indeed pathetic, but he who pays the piper calls the tune. Like you, I've no time for that kinda tune. Sadly, it's played all over China these days, and is great fodder for weasels grovelis from the west!

Cool, flexible, entertainer,

The first three requisites for a "teaching" position in a public school that was sent to my inbox this morning.

It's pathetic really

The problem with middle school oral work in China these days is that students are looking to be entertained, and they have the power to get their FT out the door.

I feel your pain man....that's the unfortunate reality of the situation.

I hate to sound cynical, but the days when we are a novelty are long gone:(

It is better to always think these things through, it can literally be out of the frying pan into the fire. I am toughing out my current gig as I only have 3 months left.

Me too - my t/a is a real nitpicking bitch. I've bawled her out a couple of times between classes, but she's as stubborn as they come. I told her she can ask the company to switch her to another county if she dislikes working with me.

Like you, I'm financially secure enough to stick it out until the next gig next term. And I'm not teaching on a Z, so I don't need a release letter!

OK, but when you do a runner, make sure you have enough resources to survive on your own until you find another job. Even staying in a cheap hotel and eating out each day can be quite costly.

Agreed. I have had to live in a cheap (100-120rmb) hotel room for quite some time in China and it was not pleasant. Hong Kong would be even more expensive.
