DO NOT WORK FOR THIS SCHOOL!!!
1) They tell you that you have a "contract" which apparently only protects them! None of it protects you as a 2 sided contract would in the West.
2) After you arrive in Xi'an, you are expected to get straight to working for them for a period of two weeks that is ONLY paid if your demo is approved. The demo is a job interview-so yea you are flying all the way from your country for an interview. Have enough money to last 6 weeks for survival as well as a round trip ticket that can be changed at any time.
3)They will lie to you no matter what-get used to it is part of the culture
4) The teacher assistant will NOT help you-she doesnt care
5) You will not have a full schedule of classes until you demo for them all, so be prepared to stretch your salary as far as it will go
6)They may place you in a dirty, cold, small apartment so just be prepared. You may also contract various diseases as China is a filthy country
7)***Protect your bag/wallet on the bus, teachers getting robbed especially westerners-is common
8) They do not have a great grasp on english, even the owner of the school does not speak english, and the principal and foreign teacher manager are sisters so be careful what you say, they may not tell you that they are related
9) They believe that the salary that you earn ($714) is a huge amount fo money and for China it kind of is considering that they earn about $150 USD per month, there is plenty of jealousy
10) They cater to the parents especially, and the kids have no sense of discipline so beware!!!
Look for other schools, pass this one by
I would advise anone to accept any offers from any of the Xi'an Kids Castle Schools. I was contacted by "Sean" is Xian wanting to recruit me for a Kids Castle school. I do not know how he got my email address and he would not answer that question along with others that I had with him. I offered me a blank contract and would not tell me what the salary would be and what the bonus was.
I have been in Xi'an for two years and I have meet many teachers that have taught at many of the different KC schools. None of them enjoyed teahcing for KC and where glad to see the end of their contracts. This is a very dishonest group of schools no matter who the franchise is. Do not work here please.
