I've found in China the better the education povider the worse they treat their foreign lecturers. So I avoid working at so-called key Chinese unis. If they had fewer foreign job applicants, they'd treat their foreign staff better. Real foreign academics tend to leave quickly in disgust, just like you have done. Will they learn from this? No, I think not.
