DD Dragon Hangzhou

DD Dragon was recently involved in, or at the center of, a very, very nasty suicide/murder of a 23-year old American teacher assigned to their school in Hangzhou.

The details are VERY, VERY horrific and the school, at least according to the numerous articles in the Chinese press, and I mean, numerous, reacted quite poorly in this situation.

One only needs to check either the China Daily or the People's Daily or Hangzhou Expat (in English) to find all the gruesome particulars of this situation and the rather crude attempt by the school to cover things up.

For these reasons alone, anyone considering DD Dragon Hangzhou should give it a pass, a very quick pass.

The affair was quite sordid. Just go check it out in the press.

I like the way they changed the name of the station to Hangzhou South from Xiaoshan. It's like getting a budget airline flight to a major European city only to find the airport you flew to is further from the city than the original flight. Lol

To be fair this is a very common asian phenomenon, not only unique to China.

Having visited kuala lumpur once before, imagine my surprise that even though said airport is named Kuala Lumpur International Airport, it is actually nowhere near the city. It is at the end of a long, modern motorway surrounded by palm oil groves.

Quelle surprise re hangzhou as the airport in hangzhou is not even in hangzhou, lol. The airport workers get shuttle bussed in and out apparently.

Yeah if you took the bus it would be longer.

The new bus station also seems to be miles out of town. Maybe if they ever finish the underground system ................

It's where Hangzhou airport is and is about 45mins from the Hangzhou city centre.

Try 1 hour and a half by bus to the south station. believe me i have done it three times!!!

Technically speaking in Zhejiang you do need a degree certificate to get a z visa. Although having lived in Zhejiang for 4 years i can think of 2 examples where teachers have obtained them without a degree. On both occasions it required the school calling in a couple of favors from the powers that be.

It's more likely that they can't provide you with a z-visa and will ask you to work on business or even tourist visas. This would be illegal. Therefore, the question is do you want to work for a business that is willing to break the law? If they are willing to ask you to enter the country illegally what else are they going to ask you to do?

I'm not sure what the rules are for Jilin province. I've heard some authorities will accept experience in lieu of qualifications.

Also Xiaoshan isn't really Hangzhou. It's where Hangzhou airport is and is about 45mins from the Hangzhou city centre.

It is my understanding that you need a degree to obtain a work permit in china. Further to that I believe you would have difficulties finding a good job without one. The question that could be raised is why would the good schools/universities hire someone who does not have a degree when there are so many to choose from that do have a degree?

I would avoid DD Dragon like the plague, read the recent article I posted re:this cowboy outfit.

Actually, Hz, while a very pleasant city to live in, does have it's fair share of weasels and greedy TC's. I'd personally look outside Zhejiang if I were you.
