Is it immoral to learn Chinese to speak to Chinese girls?

No, but any young, dumb and full of cum green newbie from San Francisco or Nevada may be in for a shock when he discovers he is the moral one.

In fact, through learning Chinese he may learn the real nature of Chinese girls and how many different boyfriends they have at any one time.

Re: You must learn Chinese to avoid trouble.

There are many reasons why it's a good idea to learn the language of the country that you plan to live in for an extended period of time. However, more than anything it comes down to personal choice as to whether you do decide to do it. I don't think that those who choose not to learn Chinese need a "wriggle out justification" as you put and i'm not inclined to provide them with one anyway.

In fact my post didn't rely at all on translators. I stated that the conversation should be held in English therefore negating the need for a translator. Furthermore this discussion would be the initial negotiation which would then lead to a contract being drawn up. As with any contract you should be given and should take the chance to read it, consider it and then sign it. If you feel the need for an independent 3rd party to consider both copies in the separate languages then you should again take the opportunity prior to signing. Signing things without reading them as you've suggested will land you in trouble regardless of the country you're in or the language you are speaking/reading in.
Perhaps the problem here is that the example i stated was one that involved a negotiation with an employer and you are comparing my comments to boxiangjiaopi's which were related to a negotiation with a landlord. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect that an employer of foreign experts speak English and that all negotiations with that employer take place in English. However, it's unlikely that you'll find many landlords who will be able to do the same. If you are going to go out and rent a flat of your own accord then you will have to speak Chinese and/or rely on someone to translate and there will be risks associated with the process.

Is it immoral to learn Chinese to speak to Chinese girls?

I guess you could use the old school, circa 5000BC chat up method of bashing them over the head with a club and dragging them back to your cave (that might be seen as immoral by today's standards) but i think i'll just stick to conversation. Like you said learn a language and use it.
