Re: Training centre goons and their level of communication

I have no doubt that you are speaking the truth about those who would seek to protect their vested interests (whatever they may be) by posting an inaccurate account of conditions at their school. I would again state that this is not a problem isolated to training centres (as the title of your post suggests) but to public schools and universities as well.

There is a valid debate to be had regarding whether a private enterprise can really provide high quality education. Some people such as yourself would claim that it can't happen others may say that in certain circumstances it can. However, i'm not sure that by labeling people as goons, lackeys, GWs, etc. you and others are making a real contribution to that debate. Therefore, it seems that we have a common problem i.e. it is not the points you make about certain important issues pertaining to conditions in China which i too feel people should stand up and speak about, but rather the way that you present them.

Finally, i find it hard to believe that the atmosphere of fear that you claim to have developed is really conducive to fair and free debate that would help the cause that you say you are committed to. This atmosphere may well keep the "goons" at bay but how do you differentiate between someone posting a genuine positive experience (commonly referred to as a GW) and someone who has a vested interest (perhaps it is that you don't see a difference between the two). I'd put it to you that the atmosphere of fear keeps away as many genuine posters as it does liars to the detriment of this board and the role it plays in providing teachers with information.
