When I told this woman ( who I had only met twice ) to get a job she said that I was "cheating" her. I was dismayed to learn a 40 year old Chinese woman who had been working for 20 years had no money.

The last part of your post, is perhaps one of the best things I have read on esltb ever, and is spot on with the current generation of females and their mentality in contemporary China. It is one reason why I could never go back. Yes, right now I am living in England, and it is not great, but I am kind of enjoying a break from China, the dirt, the noise, the pollution, and generally a free internet and free press. I also got tired of the women's entitlement mentality there, it seems to be getting worse by the day, and I fear that it will never go away.

I am not ruling out a return to Asia, but just not the mainland of China. HK has gone too far downhill now, somewhere with nice beaches would be nice, considering Taiwan but not sure because they seem to value north american speakers and the education system is highly americanized, not much wiggle room for aussies and poms there, so considering elsewhere.
