Re: GDOU, Guangdong Ocean University in Zhanjiang China

Dear friends

At this time I feel it is in my best intrests to return my homeland and not accept any teaching positions within China.
Before leaving Id like to take this time to thank everyone for their kind advice and ideas in helping me with this problem at hand.
China is a very lovely friendly society with its long history, however It doesnt suit my porpose for any educational needs within its borders.

Kind Regards,
Redhead.

Any job might be better than none to recuperate expenditure, I was thinking. Might be better than returning home directly, tail between legs, to find something, anything.

Well said. My e-mail inbox is getting hammered every day, and I am not even in China. No point going home just because one crappy college job in a crap ass town of guangdong did not work out.

Shandong may have a lot of places that offer ESL teaching positions, but very often they have problems finding foreign teachers. The reasons are manifold:

1. Low salary,
2. places that are in the middle of nowhere (except for Jinan and Qingdao perhaps),
3. sub-standard accommodation (according to SAFEA rules),
4. schools with inflexible management that does not care at all about the concerns and needs of foreign teachers they have hired.

I had been there this year and dealt with a couple of different schools and people, and that is why I would not really recommend to look for jobs in that part of China.

I see your reasoning; however, this REDHEAD person says he arrived as a newbie in China and seems to have been let down. Any job might be better than none to recuperate expenditure, I was thinking. Might be better than returning home directly, tail between legs, to find something, anything. He seems to have 2 plus weeks left to find something as he has paid for his hotel 3 weeks in advance-or so he/she says.
