Re: Rubbish Yuncheng Middle School, China

As for spying, China is a country notorious for its citizens taking an unhealthy interest in what laowei are doing. Anyone touchy about this shouldn't come to China to teach. There will be appointed spies in your every class!

You couldn't make this up, yet your criticize the UK police for kicking in a front door and arresting someone for making a insulting or racist post on twitter, which can't be accessed in China anyway. I think I need beer now.

Re: Rubbish Yuncheng Middle School, China

are you not "What's this rubbish mean?" That quote is quite sub-standard English in terms of grammar and sounds a bit like slang speech from somewhere in the US???

That poster is probably from the deep south, maybe from Mississippi or from Missouri. I think he was annoyed by the poster very much pro EV School who raised the point about IELTS School employing lots of Africans, while EV School doesn't employ any. The clear implication was that EV School is a better agent than IELTS School because of that. Another poster in this thread has praised EV School because of their policy of only employing native speakers of English. I think we needn't care whether Chinese agents employ non-native speakers of English or not. It's the middle schools themselves who choose Africans, so IELTS School employs them. This 'four countries' policy that the Chinese authorities have introduced for the issuance of Z visas is flawed. It discriminates against certain people such as white South Africans and Eire passport holders. It would be far better if Chinese EFL employers were allowed to choose whomever they want from whichever country instead of being subject to the inappropriate restrictions that the 'four countries' policy entails.
As for Yuncheng, the local government encourages the middle schools to employ foreign teachers through local agents rather than middle schools adhering to a policy of direct recruitment of foreign teachers. The importance of having a teaching assistant in the classroom for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness of oral English teaching by foreigners has been recognized. Some foreign teachers realize that their teaching assistants spy on them and subsequently report negatively to their agents. As for spying, China is a country notorious for its citizens taking an unhealthy interest in what laowei are doing. Anyone touchy about this shouldn't come to China to teach. There will be appointed spies in your every class!
