Re: Dell English School, China

Fair enough we can't agree on this exactly, nothing personal. Just the reluctance to spend money, ie put a laser printer in the ft's flat and no modern pc, but then modernize the admin offices or such is the point I'm trying to make, or, we have money, we just don't want to spend it on white hairy monkey. Laser printer can be given, but then when going to supplies room, NO TONER!, then what is the point? Like giving an FT a car but saying you can't get any petrol, or pc, but your room has no net access, ridiculous!

Hahaha, a good analogy San Mig. You are quite right, the Chinese can be a bit lack-a-daisical. Now, this is where your people skills come in; some of us don't react to things not-as-they-should-be, all-guns-blazing method. You will have to sit down, light a fag(like foxy poster would) have a baijiu, and think..how can I get these Chinese to do what I want them to?

hey want me when we are quibbling over the contract and they do not concede to my basic wants, I tell them to get lost. FT's largely have themselves to blame if they do not bargain

Re: Dell English School, China

What form that can take is anyones guess. It may well be a newer pc running windows 7 with a good monitor. I have only seen one school supply a printer in the FT's room, but guess what, no toner, and when asked for, guess what again, mei you. The problem is the logistics and arse backwards communication. We know what FT's want and need, unfortunately it's like talking to a brick wall at times. As for full internet access, well google images may well be restricted and it may run slower than in the UK or Hong Kong.

I have never had a job in China where I was not supplied with a printer and a computer-to reside in my flat. If they want me when we are quibbling over the contract and they do not concede to my basic wants, I tell them to get lost. FT's largely have themselves to blame if they do not bargain. FT's really should iron things out before they sign a contract...no sense in blaming the Chinese afterwards if things go awry that a bit of arguing the toss could have sorted out. Many companies have refused to meet my needs and I have rejected them. Of course probably no good trying to arrange a contract around your needs with the like of 'Dell' but would you work for such a place?

Re: Dell English School, China

From what I've heard about you Rob, you are a nice, decent guy, so I can see why you would write a post defending your school after stumbling upon these posts written by trolls. I know the others in your school just ignore them because they all know the troller/trollers well and they know that there is no point in arguing with him. But good for you saying something. It gave me the courage to finally say something. Hope to meet you sometime soon.

Phew, sweethoney, you know how to rattle on a bit...hahaha.

What I am concerned about the most, sweethoney, is that this Dell place is only paying 4000rmb, and then they rub in their contempt by making you supply laptops yourself for school use. I know it takes all types but I have always stipulated that if you do not supply me with a PC and a printer with full Internet access I simply do not work for you.....and that would be for a 10,000 monthly wage, let alone for a peanutly 4000. Best you get together with decent guy Rob- two can leave cheaper than one, just pop another spud in the pot for him and share a laptop.

Re: Dell English School, China

These posts are not only ruining a school's reputation by telling lies and making mountains out of a molehill but also ruining the chance for other foreigners to come to a great city.

Great city?

You like dells, that is ok, but a great city? Is it in the top 10 of chinese cities for living standards? Why do most Chinese retire in Zhuhai then?

Please rethink your post somewhat, if it was a great city, FT's would work there, regardless of poor salary surely?

Re: Dell English School, China

I'm glad you are saying something Rob. I've yet to meet you but heard great things about you. I've been wanting to write on this for many months now but I never did because I knew I would be attacked by the troll/trolls (Same person, just different screen names) writing this stuff as if he has any credentials. He works for a rival school like me. The only thing is that he is doing this all out of spite or probably jealousy because he himself has never acheived anything at his age. I wanted to stay out of it but now that you are defending your school and being attacked, I thought I should write. I have been reading these posts to find out what new things are being written. Some of the other foreigners and I find them almost entertaining because the stuff written sounds like a plot for a soap opera. The sad thing is that like myself, other people actually believed it and what is worse is that some of us were too stupid to see how ridiculous it all is. Since arriving in Songyuan, I've met many teachers. Some I prefer to hang with and some I wish to have no relation with.(One of them being the one obsessed with the Dell School. Yet he has never worked for them) I read some of these posts before coming here, that is why I decided not to apply at the Dell school. After arriving here, I found everything written on here is just a personal vendetta or "trolling" as you would say against the Dell school and extremely exaggerated. I like the school I'm working for and it was also attacked by the same person writing these posts on his personal blog. All the other foreigners in this city that knows the foreign teachers and faculty of the Dell school has found them to be kind, funny, work together peacefully, spend time with each other outside of school and treat all the other foreigners of the city as their own. I know that the troll will most likely attack me with some witty post and probably attack my school as well for saying that. But for those reading this post, ignore all that is written about the Dell School. There have been teachers from my school and another school that have left because they preferred to work at the Dell School and enjoyed their time there. We all have worked in our home countries and we all know about rival companies making up false rumors and we all know about how idiotic disgruntled employees can behave. Especially when 9/10 times they were in the wrong and not their employers. So people should think about that before assuming anything that these trolls post. I could sit here and lower myself to the level of the troller/trollers and attack the troller and his school, but I care about my dignitiy and don't wish to spread his business or information about his school. I believe in Karma. These posts are not only ruining a school's reputation by telling lies and making mountains out of a molehill but also ruining the chance for other foreigners to come to a great city. Who would want to come to a city that has people like you? You attack anyone that defends Dell's school and talk bad about any foreigner that is friends with them. Actually the troll/trollers talks bad about anyone that he sees as a threat against his intelligence or any foreigner that sees past his lies and manipulations. I have been all over China and happen to love Songyuan. You all are ruining the chances for foreigners like us to be able to meet new foreigners and a chance for foreigners to come to a place where they can learn the true culture. To the people writing the nasty posts, you are just making yourselves look bad and your making all of us in Songyuan dislike you even more. There is a reason why none of us have anything to do with you and this was before we knew you were the ones writing these. Your first impressions and second impressions were not very good, to put it nicely. I say, we should all stop these posts, move on and worry about our own lives. Life is too short. It's ridiculous that practically every month there is something new written but yet none of you have had any contact with teachers, faculty or friends of the people at the Dell school. You are obviously just sitting around thinking of the next lie to tell next. Also, from what I've heard, you seem to be describing yourself, the people you hang around and your school. I'm just saying. Maybe it's time you take your negativity to another city or country because I don't think that Songyuan or China is the place for you. I'm not going write another post because I'm sure by now you are thinking of a insult or another lame comeback that you have posted on previous posts when others defend the Dell school. With you, there is no reason to argue cause from what I got from reading on your posts, you just got to have the last word. I'll let you have it cause I've said my peace and hopefully the people wanting to come to Songyuan to work at our schools or work for the Dell school will see past your posts. Life is too short, move on and get over your weird obsession with the Dell School and their faculty. It is kind of disturbing.

Re: Dell English School, China

The webiste www.dellenglish.com takes you to Longman Schools, therefore there is some relationship.

Re: Dell English School, China

I can't tell if you are trolling or actually being honest.

Well as for being the wrong school, I work at Dell English School in Songyuan, China. It was founded by Dell and I am not aware of any ownership by Longman Schools. The school you have been commenting on for 3 years is the school I work for, but the school nuggets was referencing seem to not be.

And I must know, where is this negativity focused on this school coming from. Its been three years. Most people would simply move on with their lives.
