There is certainly more than the black and white "2 sides" of ft's that you state. There is also the type of FT who went to China or somewhere else with high aspirations, only to be disappointed with the cheat, abuse, and corruption. These ft's do not lose the love/interest for the local culture, but now they are more level headed than before and have lost the Romanticist View and learned more about reason and logic. Sometimes, they may sound as if they really hate the place, but when you come to think about it if it really was something worth hating they would not bother to mention it on a forum in the first place. You do not sound like you have worked in China for a long time, and if you have then you probably ignored the shady dealings of the locals around you because you felt as long as it didn't intrude on your own personal enjoyment then it wasn't something for you to worry about. Realize that other teachers have had their dignity, personal rights, and love of life intruded by unscrupulous individuals all over the ESL industry, and your own selfish statements only add salt to the wounds.

Which superior techniques do you have in mind, the type of techniques that insure that if you go into any secondary modern school in the United Kingdom, you will be fortunate indeed to find a single pupil who can chat with you in any other language apart from English(unless the students are of foreign descent?)or you are Welsh. Not the same in China though is it-no bloody thanks to FT's? Chinese English teachers do a really fine job.

I am a current teacher here, and obviously you guys have not learned much about your experience abroad. Things are not run in China the same way they are in the States. Obviously most of you are current teachers...how else would you know about the hot orange juice with the coffee? Its just a point that the company is trying to make things better for its employees. You apparently have bad attitudes. If the company is so bad....then why are you still working here? Go back home! China has enough unprofessional foreigners working here.
You are right in thinking that too many FT's just grumble their way through the Chinese experience; however, I do not grumble about China, yet I am not a professional, but merely an oral English teach who got fed up with preparing the Dear Departed in a funeral parlour. I resent all unprofessionals being tarred with the same brush. We even have an English ex-sewer worker who posts here-I don't think he complains much about China either- he most probably got his degree off of the Internet for a fiver(like me) I don't know, we should ask him. Oral English teachers are not proper teachers. Nevertheless, well said. Am I right or am I right?

Foreigners are invited to China to do jobs that most Chinese people have obviously proved themselves to be completely incapable of doing.
Yes, Chinese businesses are usually run very differently. Differently and corruptly. The Chinese government even admits that corruption is a problem in society and to an extent, recognise a need to do something about it. There's a big difference between merely accepting that some things are a part of Chinese culture and burying your head in the sand. Unfortunately, some foreigners (or Chinese pretending to be foreign like you) like to just believe the myths and never accept reality.
