Gina broke her contract. The contract says that the last month of pay is forfeit to break the contract, so it is not actually surprising that she didn't get paid. It is actually one of the nicer accommodations I've seen, though we are expected to work a full 30 hours per week, which is annoying, because the breaks in the day make it such that it's really 9-5:30 daily, and they don't provide teaching materials.

I just want to add a story similar to this one about the school that I am working at here in north central China. This also happened to one of the Chinese teachers that were working at my school. She had to return to her home because her grandmother had taken ill and the school with held her last months pay check from her. They too felt that this was no reason for her to leave their employ and were put out with her leaving. So this happens to everyone here in China regardless if they are a foreign national or Chinese national. Many of these schools will go to any length to illegally take money from the staff as the court system here do not work the way they do in western countries or as we know. It is also very expensive for a Chinese teacher to come up with the money required to take this matter to court. So one of the ways to try to protect yourself is to request/demand the email address and or phone number of past and present teachers at a school that you may be considering teaching at.

I have worked for this school for two years, going on my third contract, and this is why you should not work at any of the campuses of B21CEK in Beijing.
I told them I was going to quit in Sept. They weren't happy about this because I had been at that school for a long time, but said i could go the Middle of November.
By November 3 they still had'nt paid my October salary, when i ask them where was my salary, they said I will not get paid and they will not let me go! They said they changed their mind in letting me go, and will pay me when they wish to!
Why did I want to leave after 2 good years??
Management changed, they went against our contracts they changed our hours, making them longer, changed the housing ( no guests allowed to visit or stay over) gave us a curfew, and some other things.
now only one person speaks English in the schools management, TINA, DON'T TRUST HER! Her English is good, but she doesnt relay any messages you give her to management.
Chinese people are very kind to foreigners, but THIS SCHOOL DOESNT CARE ABOUT YOU!
I am not the only foreign teacher who they didnt pay, there was one more from my YiZhuang campus. they didnt pay him last year when he finished his contract.
ZHU MIN and the SIWA Company owns all the schools, but when you call ZHU MIN, she hangs up on you, and avoids you!
