Well its about time! - ESL school review

I've been saying this for years in various seminars/lectures to students and/or teaching organisations. Not about the money, but about the quality of schools and teachers in China.

Ever since I worked for Beijing New Oriental (a joke of a company) in Yangzhou, this has been something thats interested me, especially how much companies like this think they can get away with.

Treatment of foreign workers is the worst I've ever come across. But it's even worst knowing parents part with huge sums of money for a really low quality, sub-standard, 'education' for their kids.

Things will change in the future. But like pollution, it's going to take years to 'clean-up' education.

Again I must add it is not a perfect world. Yes I agree If a recruiters mouth is moving they are probably lying. I also have had doubts if Chinese people even understood how to tell the truth, but once I got work on my own I began to feel much better about things the parents I work with are honest hard working people who want the best for thier children. MY gal-friday who has replaced my recruiter is top notch. But this took time and effort
has with anything done well. No it is not perfect. But it is at least human.

Re: TO ALL CHINESE SCHOOLS AND RECRUITERS - ESL school review

I have been a teacher for the last 5 years and I think it is ridiculous to think that schools can afford to pay international teachers in Euros. Their first priority should be to the students, providing them with good facilities, such as computers. Countries such as Australia and the UK can't find enough teachers, what makes you think more money will make people go to China? People teach in China for the experience of living in such an interesting place. The people who don't do that are missionaries who should mind their own business and not corrupt the minds of young impressionable teenagers with their nonsense.

No, not all those recruiters are history now.
At least one is left - you.
I think I know you and if you are the person I expect you to be I can promisem I will spread the word about you and that what you do!
FTs do not need recruiters.. we need honest schools, and the schools need honest and qualified teachers.

You are right .What you dream , you cannot find in China .In Europe -maybe .Anyway , Yakup or Zhang Frank... ---with so many names and e-mails , Welgo --Jeff, Beijing , -who wants money to " employ you " , Victor --with so many names again ...
All these recruiters are history now .
Maybe some other will come , better or worse , who knows ?

Re: TO ALL CHINESE SCHOOLS AND RECRUITERS - ESL school review

I may add:

To all Chinese Recruiters:
Send us to a school that pays over 4000 Euros a month and where we have do not have to do any work in return. Invite us to come to a country that is free from cheaters and liars and where the recruiters are the most honest and decent people to deal with!

Ha, I am sure this will remain a dream and the opposite will continue to be true!

I have had my trauma with "Dr." Yakup from Peking.... and some other people like that.

My conclusion: NO MORE RECRUITERS - we do NOT NEEC them, and the good and honest schools do not need them either! They are as superfluous as the rats in my house!

Come on Mr.UNIVERSITY TEACHER ! Your American English is O.K. ? I suggest you go and stay at a hotel ! I sense you're a tourist not a teacher . Of course teachers have to be teachers if you know the meaning of this .

Re: TO ALL CHINESE SCHOOLS AND RECRUITERS - ESL school review

It's a pity that your advice to schools and recruiters is not couched in good English. I sense bitterness in your rant. A piece of paper from a University denoting a degree does not mean that the holder is a good teacher. In addition, I cannot believe that any teachers come to China for the salary, an interest in the country may be more likely.
I suggest that you go and lie down in a darkened room for a while, calm down, then take a course in the English language.

It is high time that you should hire in China foreign teachers ONLY if they are :

- Qualified -- ESL University Degree
- successful experience , at least 5 years teaching Non -Native students .

It is high time that you should offer them SALARIES according to the EUROPEAN STANDARD , at least 1000 Euro / month and all the rest free .

Otherwise , all these professionalists will go to Europe , Japan or Korea.
You have no other choice but to hire just NATIVES for a show but not teaching .The poor Chinese parents will understand this sooner or later and will not pay you !
It is up to you .
