I just gave a demo online lesson with Linewow. I could not see the demo student because the demo student said video was not allowed in the office.

She was an office worker at Linewow (Beijing). It seems a little odd that an online English lesson company using Skype for its lessons would not have or allow video.

The reason may be that some foreign teacher sites focusing on China post photos of scammers, so the school does not want their photos to appear on these.

Chinese in general often seem reticent to show their photos.

I don't know if I should worry about this.

You should only worry about the result of your demonstration(and i wouldn't even worry about that) not that you were unable to see the student. It seems that she gave you a jolly good reason for not having video; I mean to say, if the lady was at work' and her employers quite sensible ban the distractions of video. I should just accept this as the truth. They certainly were not spying on you to get your picture; they can get as many pics of westerners as they like, and do not have to endure the palava of conducting a skype lesson. An outside reason would be to ascertain how you handle stress while teaching- but I doubt it. Don't worry your head. I hope the outcome is a good one for you.
