Wow,
How astounding that one message posted on here that even asked for such deprecating replies to be withheld was eventually replied to by the same eight or so people that must spend all their time looking at this one website so cast their 'valued' comment on everything that gets posted.
If I were a cynical person I'd think "How can so many well-qualified, well-educated (I'm ignoring your spelling and grammatical mistakes) and seemingly well-employed people spend so much time watching and responding to a website unless they're simply trying to pretend they're more than they really are. It's almost as though they have nothing better to do than respond to any comment (because it's not just this message, but nearly all messages are responded to by the same cadre), but I'm sure they're very well employed by a well established and prestigious university."Fortunately I'm not so cynical and don't think this about you. I'm sure you're much better qualified than most people, and with much more experience than most too. Otherwise you wouldn't feel able to make the kind of comments you make. For this reason, thank you for your constructive comments, and I welcome any more wisdom you might have.
People spend time on forums on the internet for entertainment purposes you bell end, some of us just happened to have settled on this one. Mainly because we share common experiences and interests.

For this reason, I think it will have more effect if your comments refrain from saying that "you're all deechers" and "if you work for shit schools you must be shit deechers", and instead suggest something that might actually make a difference.
Here's something that will make a difference: Don't go to China if these "schools" are the only option that you have! You are doing nothing but contributing to the emboldening of the criminals that run these kinds of places! But you did go, didn't you? Why the heck would you then talk like you're better than other posters for it?

What has been described by you and other posters is that that Shane garbage place makes foreigners come to China under false pretences - yeah, you have all the interviewing stuff with them, then you pay your flight ticket, travel a long way only to be told in the end they have no job for you! What a f..ck is that! And you don't seem to care at all because it did not happen to you! They are playing around with people, and what they are doing is illegal! Anyone like you working for this shithole as you do forms part of that shithole scam they are operating!
No good luck to their shitty business model and to you, grovelling weasel! Shame on you!

That said, Shane is great if you have no qualifications and really want to be in China as they will lie to the PSB about these to ensure your visa; they did for me and many other teachers. That said, I've recently found that their 'efforts' before cause problems after, as they won't release their false paperwork to any subsequent employer. So it's kind of a one-shot thing.
Turnoi et al: before your inevitable comments I'm sure that all readers of this website are aware that your views on anyone working for Shane or many other 'language mills' are quite well known to regular and casual readers of this website. For this reason, I think it will have more effect if your comments refrain from saying that "you're all deechers" and "if you work for shit schools you must be shit deechers", and instead suggest something that might actually make a difference.
I can quite quickly question this post, without even making THOSE types of comments, even though you are obviously deserving of it by carrying out the GW's typical 'they are shit, but they aren't that shit/ we aren't as shit as used to be' damage limitation exercise.

Wow, I just saw this after being away for a while.
A little background first of all:
Before coming to China I taught computing at a public school in England for four years
I'd been to China three times, with this being my third time
This was my first ESL job at any school, and I worked at Shane for three years
I have to agree that there are better places than Shane in Dongying East City. Whilst I discourage anyone from working from there as they are a horrible 'institution', they are perfect for those with no qualifications or ability to teach. They readily welcome (and at the moment actively employ) those whose grasp of English is at best described as 'functional'. One 'teacher' whose lesson plan I observed had even managed to incorrectly spell the personal pronoun "I", using a lowercase instead. Incase you think this might be weeded out quickly, he admitted to the head teacher that his English was terrible. I survived (or perhapds even 'thrived' over) three years there, with reasonable pay and good conditions, although I had many fights with management during this time to ensure this was achieved.
Regardless of anything I've said before, one of the worst things I've seen is that Shane will happily and do regularly 'recruit' new teachers when they're either not needed or not better than others. This means that a new teacher, as a potential 'employee' of Shane, may leave their country (at great expense) and arrive in Dongying expecting a job, only to find that the job has mysteriously disappeared and that they now have nothing waiting for them. In my three years here I think I saw 20 or so people that this has happened to, including a teacher whose big crime was having a nose ring and having such was never seen again. I remember another teacher called Grant who I heard ended up begging in Shangai.
Basically, a 'contract' from Shane is at best a suggestion of a contract. As Mohammed has shown, it doesn't matter if they've given you a Z visa or anything else, if they don't like you personally (wrong colour, sex, age, weight) they won't recruit you. You can try to ensure through conversations on Skype and emails that it will lead to a job, and I strongly suggest you do, but when you're in country this will unfortunately count for little. They'll happily lie, along the lines of "well I don't know why x told you that because that's just wrong", and you have no recourse to speak to 'x'.

So after finally reaching humanity and about to go home,two long weeks later,spending $3000 ( my own money ),total distance travelled would be 23748km, sleeping in four different places, going from the north to the south of China and stopping over in 7 different capital cities, all while recovering from Glandular fever and contracting the flu. I think im in a more than suitable position to write a review about SHANE ENGLISH SCHOOL,DONGYING,EAST CITY. ( IN FACT I HAVE A PHD IN THIS FIELD)
I would like to begin by mentioning the positives....they came in the form of people I met along the way. A(a brother indeed and a gem of a person), B(an awesome down to earth guy), Lesen( a police officer),C ( B's girlfriend), and last but not least , C's friend from Jinan ( I forgot her name, but this is an adorable Chinese girl who went out at night, by herself, in the cold to meet a total stranger(me),take him to a train station,book his ticket,pay for his ticket,explain the ticket,explain how to board the train,offer him advice,take him to a Halaal eating place,order for him and all this with a smile on her face,a young women with qualities any man would want in a wife).
Than theres the negatives,which I wont dwell too much on.They came in the form of ADAM (Hr),KIMMY(have no clue what this dude does) and MAGGIE/MEGAN (school manger). <<< THESE ARE NOT PEOPLE YOU WANT TO DEAL WITH.
The details of my story don't really matter to me now.What matters is how I felt.So ill put it to you in the underlying scenario and I would like you to imagine yourself in this scenario and ask yourself how would you feel?
Imagine you where in your lush green backyard....the sun shining...a scent of fresh flowers and a variety of colours everywhere.You had the warmth of your family,you felt secure and loved and the smile on everyones faces was enough to bring serenity to your heart.....................THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN...............The sky turns grey and an apache of helicoptr appear dropping bombs everywhere,people are fleeing there homes, terror is rife and the happenings of early completely wiped from your memory.........SO YOU FLEE.........You walk for miles and miles on end........Displacing your loved ones along the way....... A week goes buy and then another and you become part of this group of zombies,traversing to a distance land and escaping a turmoiled one........with the hope of finding a free zone ,you march on and just as you begin to loose hope............ALAS ALAS,You look in to the the distance and see what seems to be a mirage,a beacon of hope, a place of shelter,security,food,water and sanitaion............SO you CONJURE up ONE last BURST of ENERGY and walk towards the gates of the free zone.You patiently stand in the que of people anxiously awaiting entry.....the guard stamping them in one by one........and finally you reach the front of the que,YOUR FACE LIT UP.........the guard simply takes one look at you and tells you " YOU CANNOT ENTER,THERES NO PLACE FOR YOU,GO BACK TO WHERE YOU COME FROM" ( no explanation offered).
ANYONE WHO WOULD LIKE INHUMAN TREATMENT,WHO WOULD LIKE TO DISCRIMINATED AGAINST AND THEN HUNG OUT TO DRY.
