I strongly recommend that ESL teachers avoid this school. The manager is a greedy businessman who just wants a few western teachers as window-dressing. I was the only westerner in the school (in the city!)- the other 12 'teachers' were Chinese girls in their 20s with a shockingly poor standard of English and no formal training.
The kids are great and the teaching experience is good but living conditions are poor. Accomodation is in the school building - a tiny ensuite bedsit equivalent to a one star hotel room. School food is basic and adequate. Broadband internet connection is good, if intermittent.
The manager failed to pay me my full salary when I left.
Dashiquiao is a scruffy, highly polluted industrial town with little entertainment. I had colds and respiratory problems most of the time I was there. Dalian, 3 hours train journey south, is a far better prospect - a modern city with good facilities and lots of ESL schools that employ only western teachers..
